Something must be wrong with me...
I saw this old shotgun yesterday at a local pawnshop and it is just killing me. I am a sucker for anything old and cool. 1920's production Stevens model 520 pump action 12 gauge. It is marked $129. With no input from me they price went to $89. I am going back tonight and offer $70. for it. I don't collect shotguns but it would be a great companion to my Winchester 1897 which is also a take down / slam fire. It is ugly and worn but it is cold and alone in that pawn shop. I will probably rescue it. Wish me luck. Lol

Browning breakdown design for $89, even though it's a bit rough, yeah I'd grab it too. I bought a Savage 620A 16 ga just six months ago. It's an interesting, simple and useful design.

I went by tonight and they would not budge at $100 otd. I will go back in a couple of days. The manager there always gives me a deal and she was not there tonight. Getting the price I want is half the fun.

The 520 is a nice gun, had one for years. Hundred bucks for a functional 12 gauge pump? I would have grabbed it in an instant, anything like that is $200-$300 here.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have a Stevens 620 that a friend gave me a few years back. He's been collecting firearms for over 50 years so I have no idea how old it is. The only problem it had was the shell elevator was hanging a bit lower than it should but once I took it apart to clean and inspect it I found the problem and it was easy to fix. Loose screw or something, I forget, it's been a few years. The hard part was figuring out how to remove the barrel but I eventually figured it out.

I stopped by the shop again tonight on my way home. Yes, three days in a row. I got the price I wanted. Persistence pays off. Lol

Probably a relic with ghouls attached to it that they couldn't wait to get out of the shop and are even now toasting their amazing good luck that the curse has been passed on . You should be fine, probably.

I have a 620 and a 620A, just an updated version. Both of mine have had the action bars welded, under the forestock. Must have been a weak spot. One came from a local old time duck hunter and would likely have also pumped a few cases at clays. Both have nice wood. My buddy, Deaner, has a nice 520. "Real" shotguns, in my opinion.
GOOD RIDDANCE LGR!! If there isn't a gun range in heaven, then I'm going to hell.
