1957 Chinese SKS
I bought this Chinese SKS back in 2012 when the last batch of Chinese came in along with the Albanians that came from that country. The Chinese sold these to the Albanians where they had to be held for 20 years before sale to us as we can not buy firearms direct from China as President Clinton banned buying from them as part of the first assault weapons ban in 1984. Here is a tidbit for you, in 1983 the Chinese imported 190,000 firearms to the US and ATF records show the largest portion of those were SKS's. The serial number of this rifle puts this as made in 1957 according to the SKS
Forum, which I thank for information on this rifle..
This rifle is all matching with all milled parts including a chrome lined barrel. Being a low date rifle it could be that it has Russian parts in or on it. I haven't shot it as it has been sitting in a rack since I bought it. I did post the Albanian here back then that I bought at the same time though. The tiger stripes in the wood are natural by the way, not done with my Burnz-O-Matic torch.

I can see the tiger stripe on your first pic. The rest look like a pixel camo pattern on this PC ? Did you use two different cameras ?

That is a nice rifle. I am partial to the SKS. Can you link me to the serial number/date information?

If yours is 1.8 million, it's not a Jianshe, /26\ so it is likely a 1973. What is the arsenal marking?SA1911a1 wrote:. Thank you for the link. I have been reading the above links and I believe you are correct. I should be looking for a '73 Charger.... Now I know Where the joke about harder than Chinese arithmetic came from.Phosphorus32 wrote:If yours is 1.8 million, it's not a Jianshe, /26\ so it is likely a 1973. Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
