Hi All,
My name is Shawn I'm an FFL in the Central Valley of California who focuses on C&R rifles and pistols. I own two Mosin-Nagant rifles, a 91 & 44 as well as an 1895 revolver.
I also have a number of Mosin Nagant rifles I plan to restore and sell. The site looked like a great source of information for everything Mosin Nagant.
Nice to meet everyone and I hope I can learn a lot as well as contribute to the site.

If you restore them, you will ruin their value. Note that this is a preservation geared forum.ogre1865 wrote:Hi All,

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Hello, I am from Slovakia, eastern part of former Czechoslovakia. I don´t suppose collect Mosins, but 1891/30 Tula 1939 was such irresistible on the wand in nearby gunshop, I must buy it.
My private collection is small overview of handguns and longguns of Czechoslovak army from WWII. And my last addition - Mosin - is now the first weapon of the timeline.

Tikka (M30) 91/30 thoughts
So I just got a Finnish Tikka M30. The rifle is a high wall round Receiver from 1942 with tikka 1944 barrel. It’s kind of an odd Rifle in that the stock has misbmatched sling points, globe sight, brass bedding in the stock and m39 cleaning rod upgrade. It looks to have been used because the bore was pretty worn out. The screw on the box magazine is missing and rifle has pitting on bolt.( from my research online I have found another high wall tikka with the same set up) my question is was this just a make it with what u got or what’s there a reason for this?
The person I got this from, got this rifle back in the day when it was a fresh import and said it came like this. I know many Finnish mosin are peices together and worn out but this one is just odd and I would like to here what u guys have to say about this old beast.
Other mosin
-Tikka m91 1940
-SY M28
-Finnish 91/30 Russian capture
-Russian 1931 Tula hex

Thank you very much for welcome. Nice to meet you!
Prices of all guns are growing during last years ("thanks" EU anti-gun activities), so you can find now range of prices from 200 € to 400 €, snipers and curio more...

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hi guys,
I have been looking at this forum for a long time while waiting for the perfect first Mosin, which I recently found.
It's a gorgeous 1943 Izhevsk M38, but it has weird markings stamped on the barrel.
First is the calibre 7,62 x 54R, followed by crown over N, then the letters KD and the German antler proof.
Now I don't know much about proof marks, but as far as I know the crown over N was first used in 1939, but the Ulm proof only appeared in 1952. If the KD is a date code it translates to 1993, but that is usually used as a date of manufacture code, which does not make sense.
Any insight from you awesome lot would really help clear this up for me.
Thanks in advance.

Most likely it was imported out of Germany, and those are the required German proof marks. We have some German members that may have more insight. Make a new thread on the main Mosin forum.F1llarov_graves wrote:Hi guys,

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
In accordance to our post-socialist law here in East-Europe Coutries, each gun in civil utilisation MUST have labeled proof test and information about calibre on it. So - your Mosin was tested in 1993 by Ulm plant using Nitro=smokeless proof (crown over N).
For example - such proof is here in Slovakia for longguns valid for 20 years and then must be done again.
