Zastava M57

Post by Longcolt44 »

Well ole' LC really outdid himself this time. Another pick of the litter of chrome and bead blasted steel. Would come in very helpful if I ever had to go back to work...as a Pimp. This is part of some very special show guns made by Zastava in Serbia, so the story goes. SOG bought these from P.W. ARMS the importer.
You know I just had to get one.

Wow; it's all sparkly. I have never seen one with that kind of finish. I am not familiar with Zastava's M57. I have a Polish TT33. Are these chambered in 7.62x25? :?:

Yes it is chambered in 7.62X25, I'm kinda shy about shooting it, you know what happens to chrome exhaust pipes.

You keep that tucked under the leopard skin seat covers of your gold glitter painted 1975 Eldorado? Nothing warms a snipers heart more than the reflection off something shiny on the other guys equipment. The chrome coating should help the pistol resist corrosion as it sits in the soup of the decomposing body of anyone who waved it around on the battlefield. Saddam Hussein would have loved this pistol. Chrome belongs inside barrels, gas pistons, maybe a bolt head, not on the outside were it will attract ridicule the minute the enemy sees it. Hey, look at that! Get the guy with the bling pistol.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I saw those listed and was sorely tempted to buy one, but I could here JYD berating me and insulting the pistol in my head so I talked myself out of it.

No no no… This is not the gun you own while driving in your pimped out purple Eldorado.

This is the gun you own while driving your pimped out gold-plated 1990 Yugo Cabrio.

It actually doesn't bother me. It's a gun. I'd shoot it.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I actually drove a Yugo Cabrio once. It was in a car museum I used to work for. White and gray with red stripes. Cabrios are very rare in the U.S. They imported 50 as I recall.

The M57 holds one more cartridge in a longer grip and magazine than the TT33. The added on import safeties are often different. The M57 is still in production to this day. As for how the quality and fit and finish of the M57 and TT33 compare? It's hard to say.

I suppose that makes it technically superior. People with large hands prefer the M57's larger grip.
