Missouri bullet Mosin 167gr. High-Tec 2 bullets
Hey Guys, i bought a box of these bullets and have been having issues having them group @25 to 100 yds. i have been reloading for years and slugged everyone of my Mosins. I have used Red Dot, A #2400 powders played with seating depths but they seem to fly all over the place ? I have tried them in 2 M-39's, 1- ex-dragoon, 1- M-44 which all have good bores. When i use my Hornady, Sierra M.K.'s hand loads or spam can ammo i have no issues. Has anyone used these and do you know something that can help me out ? Thanks.........

Are these bullets designed for the Mosin Nagant? What is the diameter? Are they cast? Material ? Gas Check? Red Dot is not a good powder for any rifle loads except very light plinker loads, 2400 isn't much better. For gas-check cast loads, try IMR 3031.

Re: Missouri bullet Mosin 167gr. High-Tec 2 bullets
hello, Missouri bullet company makes the for Mosin's they are .3115", 167 grain flat point with that High-Tec 2 coating no crimping grooves. no gas checks because of the coating they claim it's better than powder paint coating. # 20- Brinell hardness. I cast my own usually but wanted to give these High-Tek 2 coating a try. on some of my Mosin's i use Ed Harris "the load" for my .30 cal. milsurp's . Which is 13 grn.'s of Red Dot, 16 grn.'s of A # 2400 which many people use for plinking. I have been reloading many years and the company won't give me a hint of some kind of data. All they said was if he was hand loading he would run them apox. 1800 fps. I bought from Graf & sons which i've been buying from for years. all my Mosin's shoot fine with everything i use except these " Mosin Bullets " any ideas ?
Re: Missouri bullet Mosin 167gr. High-Tec 2 bullets
1800 sounds about right for a powder-coated bullet. Keep in mind the Mosin was designed for round-nosed (later spitzer) bullets going about 2600, so the rate of twist is not optimal for 1800 fps with a flat nosed bullets. It's something I'd expect to shoot at 50 yards strictly as a plinking load with "the load". I've had good success with 110-125 gr .308 bullets, and 124 gr. .310 AK bullets with "the load" but maybe the bullet weight is a bit high for that velocity with the twist rate of a Mosin barrel.

entropy, yes i agree with the flatnose .3115" bullet but these where made for Mosin's and I would have thought after reading how and why this company developed these projectiles for Russian bores which as you know have a wide range would fly straight. because of legal matters the company won't give me any starting data. I have played with seating depths, powders, and grains. I'm processing a large amount of 54r PPU brass today and some .8mm Mauser. I'm going to try again 4 x's already loading them. Thank you for your come back, if you have any ideas i'm here. ps, if these fail again to fly straight out of all my Mosin's again i can melt them down. guess i got beat buying them instead of Hornady, Speer, PPU, Sierra, or my own cast projectiles. I just wanted others to know about these bullets so they will know that they might also have issues too. If you look them up at Graf & sons under .311", .312 or Missouri Bullets Facebook account you will see that they bill them up as the greatest thing for plinking. Thanks again

Re: Missouri bullet Mosin 167gr. High-Tec 2 bullets
I have had some responses from other's who have bought these projectiles for Mosin's and their saying to load them only to apox. 1,100 fps because any faster they won't hit a 2'x2' paper target @ 50yr.'s :( I wish i bought only a sample box now. Guess i will melt them down. Try some again for the 5th time with like 11.0 to 12 grains of Red Dot and 14 to 15 grains of #2400 and see if the group ? These should be able to to go at 1,800 fps not that slow. i slug every rifle i own and even in M-39's with .310" bores these won't work. No Data giving for these from the company either. And i have been reloading since the 70's. They have me crazy :(

If it comes down to that what is an 1100 fps suggested starting point don't want to get near squib load

locomotiveguy, yes i know i'm going to try 11.0 to 12.5 grains of Red Dot, 14.0 to 18.0 grains of # 2400. Hopefully it will chrony apox. 1,150ish ? and i will check for any squibs after each shot. So it will be just under Ed Harris Loads. They asked me to delete this post. so thank you for your help.

Who asked you to delete this post? As a rule we don't delete posts unless they violate the rules about commercial advertising, or live links to auctions. In these cases we would simply delete it ourselves and tell you why we did it in a PM. I don't see you selling anything, or linking to auctions so no problem.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It apears none of the Admins asked you to delete your post here. So if that happened, either you received a PM and know who that person is, or if they sent you a email, then it will say what their username is and email address. I'd love to see that.megabait56 wrote:locomotiveguy, yes i know i'm going to try 11.0 to 12.5 grains of Red Dot, 14.0 to 18.0 grains of # 2400. We don't ask people to delete their posts. If it is in a clear violation, we will do that (as Jim said). If we delet it will will notify you using a PM (not an email). People play games all the time and pretend to represent the Admins on this forum. But if it was us, we will be right out front with it.
This had to leave a "trail" to who done this. I'd apreciate it very much if you would forward that PM or email to us.
Thank you and I am sorry someone decided to do this.

Re: Missouri bullet Mosin 167gr. High-Tec 2 bullets
Megabait, I have used the 13 gr Red dot load also and had pretty good shooting but not with those bullets. I've used Missouri Bullets in my 9mm and I've about decided that I'm fine loading plated bullets but I can see why you would have good expectations with these. I don't have the experience you guys do reloading, but the Ed Harris load in my mind is a 50-100 yard low recoil load, and better for me at 50. Aging eyes. Dang glasses are just not any good for shooting these days so I gotta see the eye doctor for a better pair. Anyways, when I think of the 13 gr Red Dot load I think of cast bullets, no coating, just bullet lube or as I use Lee Alox. Some don't like Alox, but I like it because I have not had a good reason not too. I am wondering. Seems like pushing these bullets faster, not slower might be better with the hard coating they have. Load data should be as simple as matching to the book. I just wonder what you mean when you say they are all over the place? How exactly are they grouping?

I gave up with these Mosin 167 gr. high-tek II projectiles. after giving some to other hand loaders in my club they had the same results. I made ingots
