questions for the Finnish experts
Hello, first off, I'm new to the fins. Forgive me. I recently bought a rifle from someone who didn't know what they were selling. And I didn't know what I was buying. I saw the boxed sa and said yea I don't have one of those yet. Turns out it is also pl marked. Which I didn't know at the time what it was. So how really rare/ collectable/ valuable is a pl marked m27?

For collecting Finnish, your getting a good start. You better keep that one. The only thing more rare would be a VKT.

Hmm Just had a power outage here and lost a nice post on this rifle I wrote out for you. Well lets see what all I can remember? First off the PL marking is rare on an M27 and off the top of my head I think that serial is in the range of the RV's. It has gone through Finnish refurbishment with Popsicle stick front end being put on to strengthen the front to stand up to the use of that long bayonet. They also by the look of the different wood color replaced the front hand guard too. It has the rear sling swivel from a ski/bike sling setup too which is often seen on refurbs. If the bore is decent and it safety and head spaces alright you should have a rifle that will shoot well and handle with the best of the Finnish rifles. Value should be in the $400 to $700 range if everything checks out ok. Adding in the PL marking and it will even go higher. I see a D stamping and an F chamber code so it should be good for most ammo you try in it. I have a couple of M27's that are very finicky when it comes to chambering some ammo so be aware of that possibility. Don't go forcing anything in there.
Somebody mentioned you started out your Finnish collection with a good one and I will repeat that and add I have only seen one or two others of those with the PL markings in about 40 years of Finnish rifle collecting. You got a good one! Congrats! Bill

Re: questions for the Finnish experts
Thank you very much for the info. According to my research and info from other collectors and experts this time last week there were 4 known examples of pl marked m27s (now 5). I don't expect to be a legitimate finish collector. I goalis to have a representation of every rifle used in ww2. But I do love unique and unusual. This one certainly qualifies. Everyone's info and Knott is greatly appreciated
