The blueberries are waning. It has been an excellent season with more and better berries than ever. The plums did well, the Pears are another year or two away. I have a grape arbor but it has not been productive yet. (maybe next year) There are some mature Pecan trees on the place, but the squirrels keep them decimated. (That is going to change..) The lemons are about two weeks away and the calamondin is a few weeks behind that. I really enjoy watching fruit grow. I have tried to have fruit nearly year round. Loquats in Winter, plums in the Spring, Blueberries in the Summer, citrus in the fall and early winter.
Old men plant orchards for their children. The reward is in the growing, the fruit is a bonus. My son recently moved onto the place and by the time he is my age he should have a really nice orchard. I intend to keep expanding it as long as I can wield a shovel.

I get killed in tonight's thunderstorm on my way to the store to get a bucket of fruit I will be haunting you.

Cherries, good and good for the diabetes also. They are on sale for $1.99 lb on sale right now. Where I grew up in Santa Clara Ca. we had 2 cherry trees in the yard. The surrounding orchards had plums, pears, more cherry trees and strawberries. The farmers didn't mind missing some fruit but God help you if you broke a limb or other destructive crap.
