As a rule everything is for sale, you just have to meet the not for sale price.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yes. I included a picture of this in the second set of small detail photos. The month was a little smudged...dolk wrote:Pull the barrel off and look in the cutout (may be in the cleaning rod cutout also). There will be a purple ink stamp. That will be the date in "Polish" of the month and year it was made.

You can get Big 45 here. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=bi ... noapp=true. I've even seen it at gun shows. These pads remove surface rust without removing the bluing. Magic to me... And, like above, they are a very good option for stubborn bores. Highly recommended.RazorBurn wrote:That's a nice score on a damn nice rifle!![]()
The pictures are great, and I've learned about a new gun metal cleaner too. I hadn't heard of Big 45 until now. I'll have to pick up some of it and give it a try!

Right place at the right time and the thrill of the hunt! Great score.

Somebody offered you a G for a Polish 44? You know you could have sold it, bought another just as nice within 6 months for $600, and spent the other $400 on ammo to shoot in it, or wasted it on food and such. I got more shit than I can remember, and none of it is for sale unless somebody meets the not for sale price. It's happened a time or two, so far only with commercial sporters. I had a brand new Savage 110 in .300 mag I ended up with ….well, just because....customer of mine heard about it and offered me $900 for it. This was 20 years back, thought it would make the perfect bear rifle. Sold! Bought three M1903-A3's and a 1917 Eddystone with that money. I had maybe $250 in that rifle, was never going to shoot it, not milsurp so who cares, not for sale price met. Got rid of a plastic fantastic SP1 for stupid money one time, afterwards I went on a milsurp buying spree. For those not knowing, a not for sale price is what you have to offer me to sell something I don't feel like selling, and have no need to sell. Blue book, and whatever it last sold for on GB do not enter into the equation 'cause I don't care.

So in other words if it's something we really want, we better step-up and make you an offer you can't refuse........Otherwise don't waste your time or our breath!Junk Yard Dog wrote:Somebody offer Bill $2000 for that riflezeebill wrote:You're too late! Re: Pretty Good Deal...
I like big round numbers
I learned long ago that I ain't married to any of this shit, whatever I part with today I will replace with more cool shit tomorrow. Problem for potential buyers is that I don't need to sell anything, or particularly want to sell anything so it takes a pretty impressive profit to get me to part with crap I haven't already decided to sell.
