My SVT-40 (1952 Victory Day Parade)

Post by SA1911a1 »

That is my SVT-40 ......

I thought the photo was interesting in that the troops are all armed with the same type rifle. I would have thought that by 52 they would have been on parade with the AKs.

They had the idea but not the cash to produce it in any real numbers yet.

That is a lot of money being carried right there. They have gone in price since I bought mine a while back.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

That long old rifle with the blade bayonet looked more impressive on parade than an AK anyway. Am I correct in my belief that they still parade with SKS rifles, or has that too passed?

When Rocket Man visited China recently they were on parade with SKS rifles.

I am curious if they were all nickled up or in their natural configuration?

That much I can't tell from a TV news photo, likely they chromed them.
