Can anyone Identify these ?

Post by AverageJo »

Lol this is the blast from the past. Looks like this was manufactured during the soviet era.
The transition is SPORTING RIFLE AMMUNITION 7.62mm
Second pic has the quality stamp on upper left corner and the bottom is the performance data. Bullet Speed 750 meters/sec, weight 13.05 grams. Not sure of the head stamp but it prob manufactured year is 1977 I could be wrong on the head stamp though.

Yup, Novosibirsk. I have a box of that that I picked up at a gun show shortly after I got my first couple Mosins. Ironically, though labelled as "Sporting Ammunition", it is FMJ, which is illegal for hunting in most states.

It is for sport. Target shooting and the like.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
