As you have read, this forum is about preservation. It is in the rules you had to read when joining. It's at the top of every page here. "permanent" altering of a military surplus is not discussed here.
If you didn't want the advice of the members here, you should not have asked them, ....... then poke them in the eye by drilling a hole in the rifle. No, there is nothing you can do to bring that rifle back to "original". Original is gone. The value just dropped. The rifle is now worth less then before. Best you can hope for is to get another "original" stock and replace it. But remember, to get that "original" stock, another rifle had to be sacrificed so it can not be corrected, just added upon.
Everyone makes mistakes, but for these forums, that is a dozy.

As a mechanic for over 30 years, and having torn up my fair share of a lot of crap, I have learned not to get in a hurry. You should have put this thing away for a few days and waited until you had a better idea. But I'm glad to hear you got it fixed.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

OP,
Hard lesson, but useful experience. Brush off the dirt and get back in there, with some more wisdom. I sure made my share of mistakes.

There's "askholes" everywhere...you know, people who ask for advice but never follow it.
