Someone told me last one sold on gunbroker for $1575?
Also I've seen the AVT stocks and the regular svt stocks, but mine seem to have the svt40 stock (thinner) with the the double notches for semi and full auto but don't have the AVT marking on the wood ... Were the svt40 stocks also full auto till they switched it to AVT stocks?
A lot less of that variant made. Worth that much more ....? (if you can get it.
Two mags is very nice. They are about $75 plus for a spare mag alone.
Rail mounts on the side mean nothing. If it don't have the notch in the rear of the receiver, it was never a sniper. Mine had rail mounts but no notch. Many do. The notch is what confirms it.
Thinner stock and notched for full auto means the stock at one time was on a full auto AVT. May or may not have been on this rifle unless there are numbers matching to the stock to the rifle. But it is a rebuild or refurbished rifle. Usually that means parts for different rifles.
SVT stocks were semi fire only. AVT stocks were select-able. Actually they had AVT stocks on first and had both SVT and AVT versions. Later they dropped the AVT as it was not a system the Russians though was as usable. All the AVT's were then converted to SVTs.
I think I got that all right!
