What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
This paperwork came with my rifle, I saw the refurb marks on my scope and the matching serial number of my scope in this paper. Is this just a paper from the refurb and another later inspection?

We will wait for someone who speaks or at least reads Russian. I only know a few colorful sayings in Russian.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Here it goes sir:
It’s a packing list.
Dust cover-1
Towel-1 200x200
Sleeve (scope sleeve I assume) -1
Looks like the date was 1976 March 18. Pew long time ago.
Hope this helps

Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Long time ago? Many of us shoot rifles made before 1900 on a regular basis, and some of us have fond memorys of the Bicentenial year as if it was yesterday. 1676 was a long time ago, 1976 was yesterdayAverageJo wrote:Here it goes sir:

1976 , yea,
age for beer purchase was changed to 18. For a while anyways.

Average joe can you help me out again? I can’t read handwritten Cyrillic only print!

First row - Scope was repaired in the workshop of the military unit #1463 in January 1949
Text below - Ocular lens have a chip that did not impact to to image quality. Second grade device.
And at the bottom another note that scope was ispected in 1951

Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Interesting I missed the date earlier thinking the one was a nine. I thought all the pe and pem were melted down or disposed of during the PU program other than the ones in service during the war?
Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Some scopes were left in storage for sure. I saw scopes with 1950's refurbishement dates
Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Do the scopes have the refurb/ rearsenal marks on them? This has no markings like my Pu refurb did from the first post above.
Maybe mine isn’t marked since it’s not been refinished and is considered 2nd grade?

Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
Grade of the scope have nothing to the repair depot marking on it.
Unique to each repair depot ID markings start to appear only in late 40's-early 50's (only few biggest depots gave them in 1940's, most appeared in 50's), before repair depots did not applied them simply because they did not existed.
Refurbished in 50's PEM scopes have repair depot markings. I saw MO repair depot marking (currently unknown location) and Arsenal #7 Riga marking ("box"). I own Arsenal #7 refurbished scope.

Comrade Kevin, sorry I was traveling to some shoots and could not translate for you sir, having said that, looks like a comrade ratnik did a great job translating. :0).Kevin917z wrote:Average joe can you help me out again? I can’t read handwritten Cyrillic only print!

I know what you mean about the cursive writing, it can be tricky sometimes lol
And to add, the last page ( if I am not mistaken ) indicates that the original Manufcturing year of the optic was in 1939. Damn it’s a long time ago. :0)
The only thing that’s not known is the justification/criteria for the repair. In this case, the lack of paperwork for failure to pass the inspection would indicate that the scope was received, inspected and found to be in a good working order with the small cosmetic flaw and thus no repair required/recommended and it was confirmed by the quality inspection at the end. Good find Kevin.
Re: What is this paperwork that came with my rifle?
So from Alex and joes comments then this scope with document is rare then? There aren’t many of these in storage still in a mine somewhere ?
