Finnish 1942 Tikkakoski (Tikka) M91. Finland didn't make receivers so it's a Russian made Tula hex reciever with a Finnish made Tikkakoski barrel. If you take the rifle apart, you can find the reciever date on the bottom of the tang.

Triangle T = Tikkakoski
Hammer = Tula and I believe pre 1928

Putting a new post with pictures under the main Collectable Mosin Nagant section might garner more responses.

I thought the hex receivers were stopped in 1936. Is it a 1936 with a 1942 Finnish re-work?

Yes it's a Finnish re-work with a 1942 dated barrel. The reciever date could be anything prior to 36, but with the large hammer stamp on the reciever flat, I believe the reciever pre-dates 1928. When the OP disassembles the rifle, we can verify the reciever date.

Hey all glad to be here. My only Nagant is a 1944 M39 on a 1896 receiver. Blueing is perfect stock is very good, a couple of dings but what do you expect from an old rifle. Bought it years ago when they were $79.99. Just now getting into really shooting it but had to scope it because my eyes didn't wear as well as the rifle did. Don't worry, no permanent mods to it used a bolt on scout mount. Shoots amazingingly well and if I can ever figure out how to post a pic I will, of both the rifle and target from first range session with the scope.

Hello all, first post here but I've been collecting for 20+ years and use this user name on several other forums. I've got a fairly large Mosin collection but here are some pictures of some of my favorites to start.

A Finn captured 1939 Tula M91/30 that has a stock carving that reads K 11 13/3 .40 which is how a Finn would write 11 O'clock
13 March 1940, the exact date and time that the armistice that ended the Winter War went into effect.
A 1917 Tula M91 that was captured by the Japanese and converted into a training rifle for students at the Meji University in Tokyo.
and last but certainly my favorite, a Civilian Sales M28
Enjoy the pictures, more to follow I'm sure.

Welcome! The first 2 are nice but your favorite, the m28, is at another level of coolness in my eyes. As mentioned before don’t be shy and share lots of photos!

Thanks, she's likely the last Mosin I'll part with, you don't see them often and I'm lucky to have it.

Greetings,

Late to the game but just getting my feet wet in the Mosin world. Been involved with the US WW2 arms for decades and really didnt give anything else a thought until late this year. What a mistake! The historical significance of the Mosin is huge and looking forward in learning from the community and continue my quest for select 91/30's , M38's and M39's.

Have a restful holiday.

Hello all,
I've never really considered myself a collector of military rifles but I recently realized that I have enough of them that maybe I am. I ran across this site on accident looking up info on M1 carbines. I was genuinely amazed at the amount of info here and have decided I should go ahead and find out the real story behind some of the firearms I've been shooting. I hardly know anything about any of them other than what bullets to put in them so forgive me if I ask something elementary.
Enfield No 1 Mk 3
Mosin Nagant M44
Chilean Mauser 1895
Remington 1917
Springfield 1903 Mk 1
Norinco SKS
Unidentified 8mm Mauser
Hopefully these fall into the acceptable list. They don't look like they have been modified other than a synthetic stock on the mosin (I did get the old one with it) but I am interested in learning more about them so thank you in advance for your patience.

Welcome aboard. Show us some pics and we will tell you what we can.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Good morning everyone
I just joined the forum, I'm a lucky owner of a Valmet M 27-66 serial number 000030 since 1990 and I would like to equip this weapon with a scope, using the original base already mounted on the breech. In Italy it's impossible to find the right support, can you tell me exactly how it is cataloged and where I can try to buy it?

Mosin m44

Post by Aburch44 »

Hello everyone, I need some help identifying a m44 mosin nagan carbine I picked up. I can't find any import stamps or any signs of it being refurbished, I'm using my phone and have not yet learned how to post pictures. Any help would be appreciated. :D
