About how many rounds do you guys shoot in your .22 magnum rifles, before you use copper solvent on your bores.

I shoot the rifle, when I am done I clean the rifle. 22. mag is expensive so I might shoot ten, twenty rounds then switch to my regular .22 .
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

The rifle may sit for years before I use it again, it must be cleaned before being stored away.

And when it comes out again from long term storage, it should be cleaned before use if the barrel was oiled.

You are smoking Hoppes at 7 in the morning? You may have an issue.

Now that feller is a fart smeller. No, Don't snort the Hoppes. Use in a well ventilated area. Read the warnings. If you must, savor a little lemon oil or Ode de leather sling is nice. I love the smell of a hot rifle on a cool morning. "thumbsup01: Smells like victory.

To your original question, I found this thread on RFC. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... 248&page=2 Opinions seem to vary. Sounds like every cleaning thread ever.

If you are wearing your barrel out by cleaning it too much, ...... you are cleaning it wrong.

Yep, I feel the same about .22s. I am afraid to open the action on some of them.

.22 magnums are different from other rimfires in that they shoot actual copper jacketed bullets, whereas .22lr and others shoot wax lubed bullets. I think they need to be cleaned more often than a .22 lr, although with their relatively low velocity (as compared to .22 centerfires} the copper depositing is probably not bad.
