Hello everybody! A few days ago bought a Mosin Nagant from 1940, has many stamps and much is changed, comes from Finland? What kind of model is it? Do you get cleaning rod somewhere? Thanks for your effort. Greeting Andreas U.

I'm Bob aka Bigfish333. I received my first historical firearm yesterday, a 91/30 Mosin Nagant. It's a 1934 Tula with hex receiver. All serial numbers match including the bayonet. It was covered in cosmoline so I dropped it off today at a gun shop to get it cleaned up and confirm it's ok to fire. Yes, I probably could have done it myself, but thought for my first "modern" rifle I'd have it done professionally. I do have a few other long guns but they are all black powder and only reproductions. I have a cheap mass-produced Brown Bess flintlock, a custom made fowler flintlock, and a custom, hand made handgonne. I'm thinking my next purchase will be either an SKS or a Mauser. I should have the Mosin back by Wednesday and hope to sight it in the following weekend. I bought it as "hand picked, matching numbers, in VG to Excellent condition". Looks nice, but we'll see after the crudoline is off...

Anyway, thanks for letting me join. I'm sure I'll have questions like best ammo to use, etc.

Bob.

Hi,

Came to this site to find images of a Vostok CM-2, but through the years have been peering into the "dark side", thinking of owning a Moisin. Where would you buy your first one? (not a safe queen, but one to shoot regularly at the range)

Thanks!

Look on Gunbroker at the '39 Tula's listed by CDI. Old imports w/ small stamps near the muzzle. I've bought 5 this yr. all VG shooters.

Hello all, I'm new to all of this. I've been a Mosin collector for over 18 years. The biggest problem I'm facing right now is finding two barrel bands for a 1917 Remington-made Mosin. I found one seller from Finland; however, he wants $50 each for them. Does anyone out there know if the bands can be found elsewhere for a little less?

I think Liberty Tree, at the top of this page, has them.

Hello,

I just purchased a 1943 M44 manufactured at the Izhevsk factory. It is beautiful rifle. Ammo is on its way. I am really excited to take it out to the range.

Hi, I am new to the site and just wanted to show my gun. I don't know a lot about it other than it's a 1944 in like new condition except for a few scratches on the stock. I was also wondering about the value of the gun or rarity. Most of the research that I did shows these at a low value so if there's anything that you can tell me about the gun that would be great. Thanks a lot

Ok thanks! also is there any history about this gun that I should know other than the shorter barrel for tank use And the bayonet they put on too late in the war. Also what can you tell me about the maker? Sorry for so many questions I've been reading but would like to know from you guys, because I know you live and breath these guns. Thanks

Welcome to the madness, as stated you have a M44 made in 1944 by the Izhevsk Arsenal the arrow in a triangle denotes this manufacturer.

The lenght of the M44 made it more suitable for urban warfare/combat the shorter the weapon the easier it is to use in house clearing operations etc. The M91/30 though shorter than the M91 is still an awkward weapon to yield in tight quarters. Try running around your house in and out of rooms with a M91, M1/30 and a M44 and you'll get the ideal.

Your rifle is in typical refurbished condition, the magazine floor plate SN is forced matched, understand it's not a bad thing.

Friends,

Picked up my 1942 Tula, M91/30 Mosin last weekend and couldn't be more excited! I am a war enthusiast, and I had to own one of these solid rifles.
I'm also excited to learn more on the history of the Mosin Nagant! I've probably gone and got addicted to these rifles, my first shall not be the last, and for that, my wife will hate me....and it's worth it.

Hi, I'm Jim Foral. Some of you may remember my article in the 1999 Gun Digest THOSE RUSSIAN SPORTERS. I've had a couple of these made-over Russians over the year and have now taken possession of the one I have been looking for for several years. It's a Remington and has several of the Circle R marks where they should be. On the receiver and elsewhere are the capitalized letters A S N. Can anyone enlighten me on the significance of these letters? Thanks in advance.

Your rifle is a good one Mrhankie. The laminate stock brings a premium to some folks.

Hello! Craig Palen here from Maryland. I am a retired police officer who now collects mainly C&R firearms (C&R 03FFL holder) for our small family collection that we catalog all known information to pass down the family line. All our guns are shootable.
We have a few Mosins and several SVT40s.
I acquired a 1941 PE(?) scope (it is an adjustable 4x with no mount and the windage/elevation turrets missing). It is a heavy well made scope with the Russian Hammer and mark with the No55415.
I am not familiar with this scope at all since it is a 1941, adjustable 4x with the outline of a Zeiss scope.
I sure could use some help finding out more about it please.
I have good photos. I just need where to post this probably better also.
Thank you!
