Couple of gun show pumps.

Post by Sonny »

First is a Harrington & Richardson model 400 in 16 gauge. The other is an Eastfield model 916 in 20 gauge.Picked them up for a good price.

You know back in the 60's and 70's the 16 gauge was popular up here but now not so much anymore.
 They still killed ducks just as dead as a 12 gauge tho.

Now my shotgun collection includes 12,16,20,28 gauge and the mighty .410..Hmm maybe I need a 10 gauge. :D

Those are some good looking old shooters. Congrats.

I had a ten gauge, for short time, years ago. It was an issue of too much gun, or too little man.

Nice shotguns.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have an H&R 10 gauge I used for high flying geese in Northern Calif. My go to duck gun is/was my Model 12 Winchester 20 gauge.

Really nice 20 gauge. I have a 1952,12ga. model 37 ITHACA that I shoot as a single shot with ''little skeeter'' sub -gauge(20) tube.
my old double ITHACA 12 is fine with the 20 ga.inserts but its nowhere as light as the model 37.
ya did real good.

Oh dear! I have a weakness for old pumps. In the recent past I had a hankering to buy a few, and I did. But my main love is for milsurps, so I kind of backed off. I have a Model 1912, made in 1914, a real sweet Ithaca 37R, plus my two 620's, and maybe one or two others. I sold some older pumps at gun shows.
GOOD RIDDANCE LGR!! If there isn't a gun range in heaven, then I'm going to hell.

I just like wood furniture security / riot gun pumps. I have a Mossberg 500 ATP in 5 shot configuration with factory heat shield, and I made a 8 shot version with a Maverick 88 and wood furniture off a Mossberg 500

You definitely need a 10.

10 gauge...did somebody say 10 gauge? I have 2, a single shot H&R and my Great Grandfathers double barrel La Fever. I just realized I don't have pictures of either so I will try and remedy that tomorrow. Hey millman, didn't you shoot the H&R on one of our outings?

I started out hunting rabbit and squirrels with rocks. They made me throw left handed because throwing right handed tore up too much meat. :vcool:

Love the 16 gauges. I've owned an 1100 in 16 gauge since grandpa bought it for me in '67. I conservatively estimate it's killed over 1,000 ducks, mostly mallards and never had a problem taking down ducks with it. Mostly got used in the lead shot days. It's still my favorite gun to shoot. Managed to "steal" another one from my brother last year for $250 that he had collecting dust in his gun cabinet. I really love the lighter recoil but just as good stopping power of the 16's over the 12's.
