A teenagers first moose

Post by Sonny »

The teenage son of one of my Facebook friends shot his first moose and wow what a beast at 54 inch spread.

He used an old .308 Savage99 and it was a broadside double lung shot using a 180gr bullet.Said the distance was only 80 yards, right on.

This young feller is going to have a time to improve on his personel best moose.

Anyway here's a few pics.

That shot behind the ATV gives scale as to how big that fucking thing is. WOW!
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The kid knew he was there since he first seen him on a trail cam a month ago.

He hunted hard and persistence paid off.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Geez, we used my '72 Chev 3/4 ton to pull my Dad''s moose to the road....and the guy who's farm we were staying at bought it home with his front end loader! And it wasn't as big as that kids. I sure miss moose meat....

computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
