Hello, I am new, obviously, and I have a strange problem. The guns, they just keep appearing. first a M44 carbine then a 91/30 suddenly a type 53 comes out of nowhere. Next thing I know I gotta 1895 nagant in my pocket. I turned around a few months ago and I have a PA-63! Oh crap!! there's a romanian tokarev under my pillow and I'm broke all the time. They just keep appearing. How can I be cured? Do I want to be cured?

Welcome to the madness from Florida the folks around here are friendly and knowledgeable. The only cure is death or in some cases kids or a wife that controls the checkbook.bamagslinger wrote:Hello, I am new, obviously, and I have a strange problem. Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hi all...... I live in Northumberland in the UK, and I've just become an owner of a deactivated Mosin Nagant rifle for the first time this week, and thought it would be useful to join......
I know absolutely nothing about these rifles, but I'm very keen to learn. The rifle I have as various markings on it, some of which are unclear and difficult to read. What I can see however, are the markings which look like a hammer ans sickle surrounded by a wreath, with "1943r" and the number EK7408. I have conducted a preliminary look around Goggle and would I be correct in assuming that it will be a IZHEVSK post-1938 Soviet model ?.Any advice as to which model of Mosin I might have and any other information in relation to manufacture/history etc would be fantastic. Many thanks in anticipation of your advice.
Best wishes
John

Hello all, Nucking Futs here. I just picked up a rather nice Tula 1936 round receiver. Bore looks great (for age), stock is loved but not too abused, and no significant metal wear. As soon as I can figure out how to post pics, I will do that.
Anyways, hello.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
hello, my name is josh. i currently have two mosins. the first is a 1926 hex.
the second one i came across i believe is a 1917 finnish m24 but im not sure. it has the boxed sa stamp on the barrel, but its the original sestroryetsk Russian barrel. the barrel serial matches the bolt. it has the blade front site, and the older Russian style arshin site with numbers struck out and redone on the other side. it also has a new step ground in the site to make it do 200 meters. the stock has a beeswax appearance and it has a circle cut out of it like the m24s did for the tag. the front of the stock appears to have been modified.
please let me know what you guys think. anyways im looking to do some swapping for another finn.

Just found the website and have really enjoyed the good information !
I have always been a fan of milsurp firearms for their ruggedness and their history but still consider myself a novice .
I'm looking forward to learning more !

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Very cool police collection indeed. The one firearm I regret selling was 15 years ago a .357 S&W marked N.C. Highway Patrol. I've never seen another for sale.

pitter54, 25 plus years of collecting milsurps, that's impressive. Post up some pics of your favorite Mosins when you get a chance. We also have sections for all your non mosin milsurps.
to the forum.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hey everyone! This is actually my second post in the Mosin Nagant section of this forum. I’m new to firearms. I only started entertaining this interest this year. On the process of getting defensive pistols I started getting interested in military surplus rifles. Since February, I have run across two Mosin Nagants. A 1931 Tula Arsenal m91/30 and an m44 carbine. I passed on both as my work situation at that time was rather dicey. Anyway, I don’t regret passing up the M44 as the stock was fugly but I do still regret passing up the 91/30. Hopefully, I can find another one and get it.

Type-53 Mosin Nagant.
I looked at a lot of the other mosin stock markings and have yet to find one exactly like mine. The closest I’ve seen so far has been the Polish diomond with “OW” on the inside. My Type-53 has a diomond with a “9 I 5” on the inside. if anyone can help me identify this marking I would be very grateful.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Glad to be here. By looking at these threads it seems as though my first Mosin I bought 10 years ago is a "fake" sniper. Looking forward to educating myself more.
Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hi all, wanted to join a Mosin forum and this look like the best one! I plan on purchasing my first Mosin, which will also be my first firearm. I'm not new to shooting, and have luckily been able to shoot the firearms of family members. I'm currently looking for an M44, so any advice on what to look out for is appreciated.
Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
An M44 is a good choice. Look for the best bore you can find, and avoid Bubba.

Re: RE: Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
A matching Polish M44 would be my first choice. A matching Hungarian my second. However I don't find the M44 enjoyable to shoot. For shooting I would look into a Finnish M/28-30 or M/39.Dardooder wrote:Hi all, wanted to join a Mosin forum and this look like the best one!
