I have just joined the forum having recently acquired a Mosin Nagant rifle, which I know absolutely nothing about.
It is deactivate and i have the certificate confirming this from the Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House here in the UK.
The rifle I have has various markings and stamps on it, most of which are unclear and difficult to read. What I can see however, are the markings which look like a hammer ans sickle surrounded by a wreath, with "1943r" and the number EK7408. I have conducted a preliminary look around Goggle and would I be correct in assuming that this rifle will be a IZHEVSK post-1938 Soviet model ?.
Any advice as to which model of Mosin ( ? 1891/30) I might have together with any other information in relation to its manufacture etc would be fantastic. Also, the rifle didn't come with a cleaning rod, and wondered what size rod these rifles were issued with ?
Many thanks in anticipation of your advice.
Best wishes
John
