Mixmaster of times and parts there for sure but still well worth double or so what you paid for it. Has what people are calling the Balkan wedge in the slot for the rear sight spring plus the JSE in the oval and the Finnish SA marking too. Basically that almost opens the market to any wholesale changes made either stateside or in the period before it came here. Add in the Deutsches Reich mark and anything on that rifle is explainable or could be covered by any bodies guess. The obvious would be if that is indeed a Russian manufacturers armory Roundel it is not in the ordinal stock but the Finns or any of the above could have done that. Or it could have been assembled here by a collector to cover a slot in their collection. You will never know and really that is the nature of a Mosin Nagant in that there are so many unknowns. Even with all the questions one could bring up about the rifle at the price you got it for I would care less! Great bargain with many questions which I indeed would worry not much about. It may not be pure gold but then it sure shines like it is indeed. Congrats a hard one to find and enjoy for sure! Bill
