correct sling for a YUGO 59/66A1
You guy's are all ways so helpful. Would you put up a pic of a yugo with the correct sling. I think it has a quick release hook and has a buckle for the the rear. I think one of our vendors sells them on Fle-bay. Thanks! Jim

I think he meant a Yugo SKS sling not a Mauser. Our advertiser Liberty Tree Collectors has both leather and canvas Yugo slings.

Re: correct sling for a YUGO 59/66A1
Typically a M59 and the early M59/66s have a slightly smaller rear sling loop than a M59/66A1, and would take the leather style sling, the M59/66A1 could use both the cloth/canvas sling or the leather sling. In all the Yugoslavian slings I have, the leather slings are about an inch wide, the canvas sling is about an 1 1/4 inch wide at the metal tab. The metal tab on the cloth sling is too wide for the narrow sling loop. When exactly the change to the wider sling loop became standard issue is unknown.
Now..this is not set in stone, you can find them reversed if someone has swapped stocks, swapped the sling loop or an oddity got chucked in at refurb or it was restocked during the refurb process. An easy way to check, the M59/66A1 that takes the cloth/canvas sling, the rear sling loop is roughly the same width as the rest of the nations, China, Russia..etc that produced the SKS.
The front sling bar while different widths on the M59, M59/66, M59/66A1, it will usually accommodate both styles of slings.

I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

Thank you, I think I will need the leather sling to fit my Yugo. This is the information that I needed. Jim

Well Dad Gum
Well guys, First I ordered a sling off fle-bay from liberty Tree. It is a green woven cotton sling with wide metal clip which was to wide to fit my 1970 59/66 A1. The second I ordered off fle-bay is a leather Hungarian sling which the width is fine but the clip is to large to attach to the rifle. Both had stated would fit an SKS. I think I may try one more time, any suggestions? Thank's Jim
