S&W 1006

Post by Greasemonkey »

I couldn't resist it  it has the old school classic look you don't see much today. S&W only made them for 5 years, from '90 to '95, a little less than 27,000 1006s were made, so it's not an overly common find for a commercial weapon. It is also a healthy girl weighing in at 2.4 pounds, but in it's defense, it's built like a tank, and can eat the full power 10mm rounds without breaking a sweat. And luckily, I have a line on a spare magazine as they are no longer produced, even by aftermarket manufactures. Seems it was carried more than fired, it's got an awful case of holster rash.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Fine looking pistol. I could show you some holster rash that would make Zeebill cry. How does she shoot?

My 1006 is one of those guns I'm never selling... big fan of 10mm.

I got stocked up on magazines for it back when I first picked it up. They were about $40-$50 back then. Now, if you find them... they are like $80-$100.

The extended one pictured is an FBI 15 rounder. They were issued with the 1076s, along with 11 rounders. I don't see too many 15s, and even less 11s. That was on GunBroker during a past SuperBowl, and won during the game. Probably could have got a used Glock 20 for the price, but living in NJ, that is something that I wanted in my collection.
