1895 Nagant ammo at Gander Mountain

Post by pongo »

I went to Gander Mountain last night and saw two boxes of 1970s (14 rounds per box) 1895 Nagant ammo. The clerk had no idea what they were for or the price. He said come in tomorrow, and I will have a price for you. I went in today, and the same clerk came right over and said they are $18 per box, and we marked them with a sharpie. I looked at the box and they marked them as 7.62 x 25 Tokarev. The clerk mentioned that somebody was going to buy them this morning. The clerk told me he was going to double check the price. The clerk said "they are coming up at $29.99." I said, "for both?' He said, "No, each." I contained my laughter and thanked him anyway. I was shocked at the price the liquidators came up with. I was thinking maybe $10 each, and that would still be too much. :chuckles:

In all of the big box sporting goods stores they make the same mistake at the gun counter. They have kids who should be selling high-end tennis shoes Whoppers, or I-Phones manning positions that should be held by old gun guys. Our local Bass Pro is a joke. I have had snotty nose gen Xers argue with me about what kind of ammo I needed. Had I followed their advice, I would be picking vintage revolver out of my face and hands. I have quit going to the places; their prices are high and their selection is piss poor. I buy online, at least I don't have to listen to ignorant shit from assholes. It cuts down on my blood pressure medicine consumption.
