First pump shotgun, a Cz

Post by Greasemonkey »

It's a new area for me to explore.. :D I found one of these buried deep in a shop, once, it vanished, so I ordered one sometime later. Which I found was later discontinued by Cz. It's the Cz 612 HC-P, made by Akkar in Turkey. I had my doubts on it at first with all the tactical looking stuff, pistol grip, etc, but I like it and it fits me quite well. I also had my doubts on a Turkish made shotgun, but seems they make good stuff or Cz wouldn't put their name on them. Some who have seen it never knew Cz made such a shotgun, even the shop I ordered it through had never seen one till this one. Has a 20 inch barrel with swappable chokes, 3 inch chamber and ghost ring sights with glow fiber dots, it also has a rail, for what ever. It was a little rough at first, but has started to smooth out everywhere through use.

Looks like a long foregrip. How far does it stoke back and forth?

Nothing wrong with the Turk Mauser's, I would expect nothing wrong with their shotguns either. It takes rare talent to fuck up a pump shotgun design considering how long they have been in service. Looks good despite the tactical stuff.

I have a Turkish 1911 that shoots every bit as good as a pistol costing over twice as much.

Can't say I've had a slamfire in any weapon. I have a Browning Auto 5, a Saiga 12 and 410, a real old H&R single shot 12 and the old bolt action Geha. Which I actually broke down and shot the Geha  and yup, it kicked like a mule, even with the weakest low powered shells one can get.

I don't slamfire my '47 Mod. 12, but notorious evil cousin did one day, and got scolded. Slamed all 6 rounds :facepalm1:

He is talking about holding the trigger and just pumping. Old Mod 12s, Ithaca Mod 39s, etc., did not have trigger disconnects, and will go off when the slide is pumped forward.

You know this was a design feature of the Model 12 and the '93 -97 shotguns? Why do you think they were so popular with US troops in the trenches and so unpopular with the Germans on the other side? You can empty these guns with amazing swiftness, something I train with on the '97 Trenchgun . You are unlikely to break a John Browning design.

Window man? Your having new windows put in? Yea, that can get expensive, especially up here in cold country were double and triple pane windows are a necessity. Better be sitting down when he hands you that estimate. No, I am not selling my 12 or 97 trench guns. The 97 is still one of my primary personal defense weapons, and the 12 was used in Vietnam, a personal weapon sent by a police chief to his son while he was serving. He cut down the buttstock and removed the barrel guard to lighten it and carried it on his ruck for ten months in 1968-69 including Tet. It was used clearing tunnels among other things. I have since acquired an original buttstock for it but haven't installed it. The model 12 bird guns are not hard to find, they are not cheap, but at least it's possible to find one. The '97 trench gun is being reproduced in China, I can't speak to it's quality as I have never seen one except in pictures. Original '97's of all kinds are highly sought after and can bring a lot of money, the trench guns most of all. I traded a Snap-On side box I paid $50 for used for that trench gun 30 years ago, it's never once let me down. He tossed in a Carcano carbine on the deal because nobody wanted to pay him anything for it. I think I gave him some Craftsman screwdrivers for it.

Yeah, shotguns are a blast. If you want to rip something to shreds at close range, they're the way to go.
The whole reason for the location of my first shooting range was because we were shooting some skeet one time, ran out of skeet, still felt like shooting some more, so my buddy started blowing some small trees down. Then we decided that we had accidentally started a nice little shooting range. So we did a little more brush clearing, built a good backstop, and made a nice little 22 and pistol range.
