My first!
My first!
Just got my first Mosin! Been wanting one for years. I've been looking for ways to ID this one. Found most of the markings. Does this one rank in the common department? I've found some pages etc.. but honestly I'm still confused. I found the SA stamp, etc. Thanks in advance!!

Show us pics of the markings and we can ID it.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Mosins are similar to lays potato chips, you never have just one.

Re: My first!
Nice 1899 Sestroryetsk Finn'd M91!

Re: My first!
What makes it so nice? I'm drowning in websites and other information trying to learn. Sometimes it's just better to ask people who know. I got it for 80$ it sounded like a deal. Hopefully it was. Thanks for the info!!
Re: My first!
I would say you got it for 3-400 dollars under market value. maybe more than that. Sestroryetsks bring a premium. Mostly due to the fancy markings and the fact that they are not the easiest to find. That one looks to be in exceptional condition as well. Basically you stole it. Nice!
It is an M91 BTW.

Is that ammo on the pool table what you plan on shooting out of it? That looks like a 7.62x39 AK round. Your rifle is chambered for 7.62x54r.

Re: My first!
Hell of a first mosin, very jealous!
Re: My first!
Congratulations on the Sestroryetsk! That's one great looking rifle for your first one. It took me 3+ years of collecting them before I finally brought my Sestroryetsk home. The renumbering on the rear sight is very interesting. I don't think I've seen it done like that before. That's part of the fun with these old rifles, you just never know what you're going to see!
