Just wanted to see if it would hit the paper (I cried out in joy when it did, if you could see my front site you would understand why) so this is only 25 yards and my first group with the rifle so needless to say I was excited. Just a hair less than 2 inches. I can tell the groups will be tighter once I get used to shooting the rifle. Little high and to the right. I need to do a little banging on the front sight but it shot consistently throughout a 20 round session. I was taking my time and ran a snake at 10 rounds. Didn't seem to make a difference but it made me feel better.
When I moved out to 50 you can really tell where the arc is and so the shots move out of the orange, now high and again to the right, just more so of course due to the added distance but still within 3 inches on the groups. But not OVERLY high like I have been hearing it might be.
From where it was hitting elevation-wise on the 50 yard target (I am holding with the orange sitting on top of the sights) I am betting this thing, with 185 grain bullets, is dead nut @ 200 yards. I could deal with that and would actually be pretty pleased.
The rifle itself was dream to shoot, the heft of this thing comes in handy, and reminded me of my 7mm-08 on recoil. It was nowhere near a 30-06 or even the .308's that I've shot. My uncle who was with me states that it feels just like shooting the .303 British.
BTW...this was with Monarch brand steel casing ammo that I found on the shelf at Academy Sports and Outdoors here in San Antonio. It was relatively inexpensive (compared to other retail High Powered Rifle ammo not surplus) and I am very pleased.
That is all for now. Once I feel like I have the windage fixed, I will move out to 100 and report again. Thanks for reading!
