22 LR ammo at Walmart is looking good
Does anyone get excited anymore over the return of 22 LR Ammo? I went to Walmart for the first time since the inauguration and all I could think was Trump-tastic. The ammo scare is over for the moment. I bought a bulk box of 500 Remington Thunderbolts for 24.97. For the first time ever I saw a couple of the Remington Bucket-O-Bullets for 73.97.

I had lots before the scare, and I still have lots in stock.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I haven't in a while as I haven't had a .22 of my own. The wife has a 10/22 and a .22 M&P, so she stock piled a reasonable amount (considering she never shoots). I just put a "very good" wz48 on order with my FFL, so now I'm going to be out there looking again!

I haven't darkened the door of Wal-Mart in years. If I thought they made a nickle on it, I wouldn't buy their stuff for a dime a case. I weathered the drought with the stock I had before the shortage. I don't shoot the 22s much any more so my 2,000 or so rounds lasted. It is four more years till elections, maybe the supply has caught up with the panic. For the folks that bought tens, or hundreds of thousands of rounds on speculation, I hope they choke on it.

A box of 50 lasts quite a while with a single shot. I had great fun a couple Sunday's ago with my wz48 and 50 rounds of 22lr. Much more fun than my friend had with about 300 rounds and his 10/22Lotema wrote:I haven't in a while as I haven't had a .22 of my own. I never understood why people panic bought 22LR ammo. What was the reason? It's really unlikely they would ever ban or restrict 22LR ammo. It isn't a round I'd pick first for "life and liberty" either.

I prefer the Federal value packs 525 rounds and I have ten of those.

I don't go there often but when I do I always ask. I passed on those buckets several months ago but got two of those same boxes. I don't shoot .22lr anymore since the drought anyway. It lost its luster of cheap plinking when I got down to the bottom of a 250 round box. Now it's reserved for nuisance critters. But the ol' 10/22 is still spot on the last time I shot it.

I got some CCI mini mags there (300 limit) a couple weeks ago, first I've seen in 5 years. God bless America. We are on the way back, it's going to be uphill. I'm gonna post some quality crying towels on the fo sale forum for the poo-poo Democrats that can't accept it. I'm a registered Democrat that supported Trump when there were 12 or more vying for the nomination. I hope this isn't seen as political, but realistic.

Re: 22 LR ammo at Walmart is looking good
In the months before the shortage started I took advantage of a couple of sale's and bought 10,000 rounds in two separate 5000 round lots. I had a lot in stock before that as I always shoot .22's, and I always buy it in bulk to save money. I just bought more because of the sale. When the troubles started I paid no attention, and I am not even close to hitting that 10,000 yet.

Yup, that's why I've been wanting the wz48 for a while. One shot at a time will really slow me down. I get on a semi-auto and I just burn through ammo and my groups suffer. I got 500 rounds coming into the stash for the rifle, along with probably 5k my wife stashed. That'll keep me shooting happily for a long while to come!ksbanker wrote:A box of 50 lasts quite a while with a single shot. I had great fun a couple Sunday's ago with my wz48 and 50 rounds of 22lr. Re: 22 LR ammo at Walmart is looking good
I never had too much problem finding .22 during the craze.. I couldn't find the plinker stuff at times, and I wasn't busting open a sealed case for a fix, but usually target ammo was available. So I shot my target rifles more than the others, kind of had forgotten how accurate they were.
The one I could never find locally was .17HMR, that has since returned as well. Lesson learned.. doing a box here and a box there now.

Re: 22 LR ammo at Walmart is looking good
I'm seeing it more often at the WM's around here but they are out more often than not. Past couple of times
I bought any I was able to get 100 round boxes of Remington for 5 bucks a pop. Not my favorite but for the
price it's good for plinking. 17 HMR is there about 90% of the time and I have been eyeing a wood stock
Savage 93 heavy barrel for$199. I do not have a 17 (yet).

Our WM never has .22 on the shelf. I'm sitting on several thousand rounds right now and the only one here that shoots it is my wife. She goes to the range maybe once a year and will fire no more than fifty rounds before retreating to the truck to play on her phone. My daughter is a big fan of my .40 carbine, which I can reload for maybe 8 cents a round. I screwed up and put the AKM in her hands last time. I never should have done that...I don't reload x39.

I tried to sell a thousand rounds of hp x39 Wolf a couple years ago locally for 230.00 face to face and you wouldn't believe all the crying I got from the locals about how bad a price I had. Said they could get it online for that price. I told them to get it online and pay the shipping and to get bent and I still have it for my own personal shooting pleasure. [emoji14]

Re: 22 LR ammo at Walmart is looking good
I might sell 100 rounds or so if I sell a gun. Other than that, my ammo is for shooting or trading. People are afraid to get their name on any record that shows they have bought ammo. Screw 'em, bunch of chicken shit's. Let them do without or pay gunshow /store price.bunkysdad wrote:I tried to sell a thousand rounds of hp x39 Wolf a couple years ago locally for 230.00 face to face and you wouldn't believe all the crying I got from the locals about how bad a price I had.
