Nice stock on it also, the early style, many of the 91/59's have new wood.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Those links are not the M91/38 that brodydog (OP) was referring to.
Here is the rifle he (OP) was referring to.

I haven't seen a 91/38 yet...but I'm hoping too...and hope they don't know what it is either.

Yes, excellent price. It is very unique. Most of them look a little "older" that that. That one must have got some "special duty".

Anyone know the current value of these? I've found a counterbored one in a m44 stock (is that correct?) number match. It's marked 1942 Czech markings are found on the barrel shank and receiver.

If its the one I think it is and its a '42 cut down for 330 its worth looking close at...

Yeah sounds like it, I'm trying to get a clearer picture of the receiver...NLMosin wrote:If its the one I think it is and its a '42 cut down for 330 its worth looking close at...

Re: Mosin Nagant 91/38 question
Please post photos whether you buy it or not. I've see 133 M91/38s and the latest marking was 1920. If a 91/38, it would be very unique.

This one was an M38 mistaken for a 91/38. The seller has since changed his ad to reflect the model type.neal45 wrote:Please post photos whether you buy it or not. I've see 133 M91/38s and the latest marking was 1920. If a 91/38, it would be very unique.

Re: Mosin Nagant 91/38 question
91/38's were never built off of 1943 rifles. You are thinking 91/59... or M-38... A long time ago I heard of one with a round receiver but have never seen a picture of it. So, until I do, they don't exist as 91/38's.Flyin Brian wrote:+1 on Desdem's estimates. I have not purchased one yet. I have seen a few lately that were built from 1943 Izhevsk rifles and that is probably what didn't get me interested as much as an older/less common version would have. I believe the really rare ones are Chattelerault, Sestroyetsk, Remington and NEW.
I will say if the 1906 is the one you were referring to, the buyer stole it regardless if it isn't matching. But, this thread has me totally confused...
