12 gauge automatics

Post by Jbob »

Off to the rage this morning to line in the 22 rifle and found a few of the local boys there shooting target rifles. I'd brought along a couple 12 gauge automatics to try out on skeet but had so much fun shooting with them I never had time to get them out of the truck.
Anyway, here's a few pictures taken before placing them back in the safe.

12 gauge automatics

My dad had an 1100 he's taken many a turkey with over the years. He finally gave it to my older brother to shoot dove with every couple of years.

Does this one count?

Only auto loading shotgun I own is an ex British military stainless steel Beretta A300 12 gauge.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I've got a 1975 Remington 1100 I inherited from my dad before his death. He bought it new while we were stationed at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. I'll have to take a picture and post it tomorrow.

Millman, what's the function of the switch on the left front of the receiver ? My Browning has that also but like several other autos I have I've never fired them to find out.

When you flip it, it "locks" the shells in the tube so that you are able to manually eject the shell in the chamber without loading the next shell in line into the chamber. My brother has my Dad's Auto 5 and that is what it does.
That is correct. It is the magazine cut off switch.

Okay, here's a couple more NIB Remington 1100's in 12 and 20 gauge. If I remember right these were purchased in the early 1980's

Get um up here Sonny, can't wait to see them soon. I have several Ithacas but they're in the pumps and double barrels.
We'll need a new posting for a few of that type later.

A pair of Ithaca XL 300's

I bought the first one back in 73,it has a 30 inch full choke barrel. This was my go to hunting shotgun when I lived in southern Ontario and I bagged a lot of ducks, geese.rabbits, grouse, squirrels and vermin with it.

The second one I bought about ten years ago or so and it had a 28 inch mod. barrel. I had it cut down to 18.5 inches and it is my go to gun when I just might need a gun.. lol
Mostly keep it in the camper with slugs. I did put a sling on it so it's easy to pack when stream fishing, berry picking quad riding or any other back country activities.
I've been lucky so far and have never had to use it on something that wanted to eat me but knowing that it's close by just makes me feel better.

The first one is retired from duck/goose hunting now because we have a stupid no lead law now for migratory birds and a full choke is not really a good idea for steel shot. :b sad:

Anyways I love my twins. :D

They are only chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells but five slugs or 00 buck will take care of anything that wants to bite me and that includes zombies.. lol
