Value estimate for my Tula?

Post by brlm »

I've got a 1932 Tula hex receiver. It went straight from the crate to my safe, so it's still got the cosmoline on and never shot after it was crated. I have the usual accessories including bayonet.

What do you think is a fair value for this in a face-to-face transaction (i.e., no shipping or FFL costs)?

Also, what do 440rd spam cans go for these days (again, FTF transaction)?

Thanks.

They have these priced on GB from $339-$399 but aren't getting many bids at that price. $280-$350 maybe to someone that doesn't have any, depending on condition. The ammo, $160 and up. :2cents: :2cents:

Thanks. If it adds any color on pricing, all 4 serial numbers match. And stamped on the receiver is what I guess is an import stamping:
PW Arms Redmond WA
M91/30 7.62 x 54R
RUSSIA SER #RMN011xxx (I x'ed out the last 3 digits of serial)

:big shock: So a $170 ask for a spam can wouldn't be laughed at (like it certainly would a few years ago)?

I think anything under $200 would be a good starting point for a spam can of ammo. I'm thinking the rifle, pretty typical refurb, could sell for $225 to $260 these days. I have seen them move for this on GunBroker. Leave negotiating room. The serial number you mentioned is the Importer's s/n and the BATF officially recognized s/n. The Russian s/n is the number on the top of the barrel shank. Good luck.

Or you could just keep them too... You've realized the current value of these items on today's market; But imagine what they will be valued at 10 years from now, if you could even find one?

I would suggest hanging onto the rifle & ammo; If anything consider it a long term investment.

91/30 refurbs with accessories do sell at $250, but it could take time. It seems that the quick sale price point is $200. Spam cans even at $180 they seem to sell quick.

Thanks. I can be patient. Especially since I don't think prices will fall.

I agree, the prices will continue to rise. The import ban will not be lifted by Trump's administration, and may never be lifted. That said, I could use the space (not so much the space in the safe, but the space occupied by the ammo cans).

Refurbs are selling from $200 to $300 at shows and we are selling 440 spam cans of 7.62x54r light ball at $170 a spam can. They are priced higher on the east coast and generally follow the cost of living prices. What I have given you is the WV gun show prices. Bill

These will follow SKS's in value. A few years back I paid $89.00 each for 2, 30's Hex Receiver Tula's with all of the accessories, including bayonets. I remember when they were practically giving away new SKS rifles. Now beat up one's go for over $400.00. Same with a lot of these Yugo M-48 Mauser's. The value on these things is only going to climb as the surplus arsenal supplies of them eventually dry up.

I saw a 27 Tula sell out of the crate Saturday with no accessories for $300. I gave $150 for my 28 Tula
and all the accessories 4 years ago. Russian SKSs I gave $250 for several years ago are now going for
$450 and up. Are the prices going down? Probably not but if they do we'll never see the $100 deals any
more. If you see something and it speaks to you and the price is in the ballpark you better buy it.

Value estimate for my Tula?

Post by capt14k »

I have said numerous times I disagree with prices continuing to rise. The peak for Russian Mosins was back in August when dealers were actually selling them at $330. Empire Arms and The Mosin Crate are having a tough time selling them at $200 (without accessories). We are in a classic bubble and I think it is about to burst. However when bubbles burst the rarest and the best still have buyers and prices tend to not take such a hit on those items.
