Soviet M91/30 Armorers gauge kit

This is the 91/30 armorers gauge kit and front sight tool I imported from Ukraine. I am still figuring out how this all works other than the headspace gauges and the sight tool. Very nice workmanship .
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That would require extensive range time for the fine tuning, figure two, maybe three years and I will require at least three cases of ammo to be sure it's right.

Very cool and cool video too. I think I saw it shortly after you posted it. I've got a friend in Odessa too. Small world.

This one was under $300, but I forget exactly how much.

Thank you, I have been working with the kit for a few weeks and have established the use of most of the gauges. Vic was wrong about this kits usefulness, I have so far checked over 30 Mosins with it ( excluding the headspace gauge that I am not using) and will be checking many more as time permits. Tools are good if they are useful, and these are definitely useful. What amazes me is this kit was up for sale for some time for under $300 or whatever it was and nobody moved on it, this is an absolute gold mine for a collector who has multiple Mosins. The cost of one less M91/30 would have bought this. Some of the tools are 91/30 exclusive, but most will check spec in any Mosin.

That reminds me, how are you coming along with the next installment of your Mosin book series? The first book is greatly appreciated and probably selling on the secondary market for more than you charged for them.

And what were the results?

New edition is in process. I plan to finish Russian version this year, translation to English\printing will take a year or so. But it will be worth the wait - 90% of information will be completely new, unknown to public earlier, with big number of the sensational facts, that surprised even me.

Put me down for a pre order on the new book. The results were good, I have detected no problems, these are almost all refurbished rifles so far so that's not too surprising there would be no issues.

$300 is a good price. I dropped out of the Finnish one at $500 and it went for over $600. Seemed to have about the same number of parts.

I would guess that the Finn gauge set is made in much smaller numbers than the Soviet version, that would account for the higher price.

Actually, it's not a mystery for me - it's ID of repair depot. Currently I don't find documents that identify to which depot it belongs (but I suppose to which). Until I find document about this, I will not publish this info

With a short sentence you just collapsed the byzantine theory's of hundreds of collectors who have been wondering about that marking for years. I did warn them that it would turn out to be something ordinary, oh well, woe be it on them who paid a good premium for the MO market rifles thinking they belonged to some special unit, or secret operation. Sorry guys, life sucks and then you die, man up and deal with it.
