For those of you that don't know, my wife (27) passed away in June of last year. It has been a very tough road. I ended up liquidating about 99% of my Finnish collection to help pay bills, live life, and most of all take care of my 3 year old daughter. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughtfulness along the way, it has helped more than you know. I love being part of a community of such great people!
Anyways, fast forward to the last couple months. I started looking into some things to invest in to start rebuilding something of a collection again. I don't think I'll have the same size collection I once had, but I certainly plan to stick around, probably looking into to more quality than quantity. Nothing else really seemed to fit all that well, so I started mulling over Finnish stuff again. Well, long story short I ended up purchasing one rather big ticket Finn item (which kickstarted me back into Finns - not just Mosins this time, though) and it will hopefully be here next week so I can share it with all of you. My guess is some of you may already know what it is...
On to yesterday...
I decided to check out a local gunshow yesterday, figuring it would be a bust as most are. To my surprise I stumbled upon an early 1940 VKT with the large logo, couldn't pass it up! Its a bit rough around the edges with some scratches and dings in the stock, but the bore is near perfect, and to add to its novelty it has an old Austrian OEWG mark and the receiver is an 1897 Izhevsk, also noticed that it has a recycled Austrian Schritt calibrated rear sight base. I'm very happy with it. Figure its a good start back into Finnish arms collecting again.
I hope you enjoy the pictures, thanks for letting me share this beauty with you!
