I've been wanting one for awhile now but just haven't seen one with really nice wood until today.
This one has beautiful wood and isn't scratched all to hell. All numbers match except the magazine even the stock has original numbers with no big X's stamped on the stock.
Went to the range and at first it was shooting way high and to the right.Played around with the sight tool and got it shooting pretty good. Three inch group, that's a lot better than my other two SKS rifles.
Anyway It's a pretty rifle and I'm happy with it..
Here's a few pics of the wood.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I get that Sonny, though I don't have a wife to wonder if I'm nuts or not. Just the cat but as long as he has his Friskies Cat Crack he couldn't care less. BTW I have that Same rifle, 52 Tula laminate. It's a tack driver.
These seem to be crawling out everywhere right now. Lock your bayonet on and see if you don't get a 2 " group. Better check your best yard sales this weekend.

You are nuts, Sonny. We are all nuts. We would all be the guests of honor at a squirrel convention.

There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime."

Absolutley. A tighter group w/ bayonet fixed on Every SKS I've ever fired......13 or 20. Also on the M-44 they will all shoot lt./rt. with/ or without the bayonet, some 3-4 inches.Lt./ Rt. varies on some rifles. I sight everything with a folder to shoot with bayo fixed.

It's hit or miss... trial and error, some rifles "will" respond to the bayonet being fixed, others can go south and loose any semblance of accuracy. I have a Chinese SKS NR commercial made with no bayonet or even bayonet lug, it is just as accurate and groups just as well as any standard bayonet equipped SKS I have.
Plus, most have been here in the states for so long, figure most Chinese and Russians at least 20 to 30 years(excluding the recent imported Chinese), they will usually have been sighted in by someone at some point here with the bayonet folded.
I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

It don't apply to every rifle for sure, but most will have positive response. I've had 5 SKS packed in grease, 13 M-44' greasers. They all had to be sighted in, and ALL shoot best with the bayonet fixed. But that's just my experience. Others may vary.
