What is the going rate these days for once shot 7.62x54R boxer primed brass? I am thinking of selling some of my stash.

Don't have a clue, I haven't bought any in years. Try Graf's, or just an online search for Privi brass.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I did not know that anyone can reload the boxer primer. In home conditions I mean.

Berdan primers are the difficult ones. Boxer primer is what most reloaders use all the time.AverageJo wrote:I did not know that anyone can reload the boxer primer. In home conditions I mean.

You can get it from SGammo Prvi/Patizan 20rounds for $13.49 then reload from there.

Bought some Lapua on sale several years ago for about .50 cents per round. Had to wait about 6 months for order to be filled. New brass. God Bless America Pro Libertate Patria

I recently bought 100 once fired 8mm Mauser brass for 10.00 at a Gun show and that was fantastic. You should ask 20.00 per hundred if you want to make someone a fair deal. Maybe 25 even. That is half of new reloadable brass price from Grafs.com

Grafs sells brand new Privi Partisan for 50 cents apiece when they have it. Do you still have some? And what would you ask for it including shipping?

I've been firing steel casings, non-corrosive ammo since I purchased my 91/30 in February. Today I found a shop with brass casings and bought a box. Later in the day I remember reading somewhere that users were finding the brass casings were difficult to extract or otherwise were causing issues.Junk Yard Dog wrote:Don't have a clue, I haven't bought any in years. Has anyone heard of this problem, steel vs brass?

The problem can be with either metal but steel is the most common to have an issue. Most of the sticky chamber issues are caused by people not cleaning their weapon properly. If you are not cleaning the chamber then you are not cleaning your weapon. Steel cases can have lacquer coatings that transfer to the chamber walls when subjected to heat, it will then become glue for the next round.

That does it, I'm gettin' a chamber brush! Yes it sticks, but not so bad that I have ever resorted to a mallet. A good bump with the palm cures mine in only a second.

Re: 7.62x54 brass prices
Have started using a bronze chamber brush, I also use a drill motor when I clean, and have use JB Bore Paste ... still begins sticking after the 4th-5th round. Receiver/chamber looks nice and shiny after its been cleaned using that bronze brush, no residues noted, local gun shop says its one of the better Mosins they have seen, continues to stick and needs a couple of the ol' palm slaps. I'm thinking its just the nature of the beast.
