It would cause accuracy issues.

Just an update i shimed only the front as i couldnt get any shims to fit in the rear. I used .22lr casings by cutting the rim off and flatting the remaining brass. It took about 4 casings on each side of the plate that meets the stock and that the cleaning rod goes into. So far no wiggle. Ill report back when i go to the range next

If she has tightened up with the shims, I think you will see more consistent groups. It would be interesting to see a before and after target.

In case you havn't figured it out yet, someone has put a Chinese or Yugo bayonet on the Russian rifle. Both of those have the angled notch, my '51 Russian has a square notch, as do several I've looked at on GB. :2cents:

This was already pointed out in the 3rd post on this topic.

Interchange them either way and the bayonet will droop when folded. At the same time, I would consider replacing the bayonet collar spring when you replace the collar, who knows how long it's be drooping and bouncing around.

Adjusted the sights today and went to the range, went from shooting all over the place high and left to about a 3-4 inch group at 85 yards (most i could get from where i was) and to me thats not too horrible what do you think grease monkey? The rifleing looks perfect in it and its a nice shiney bore. I think a steady rest would improve that better instead of using a mini van door as a rest lol.

Not bad  One of my Russians is equal to that at that distance. Glad to hear the shotgun patterning is under control now. Something else to try different brands of ammo and see how it does, Golden Tiger or Yugo M67 usually works really well. Just find a flavor it likes.

Is adding another shim in the nose possible, just to see if it has an added effect? As It stands, I'd be happy with it, and just practice more, but thats me.

A steady rest would help too. :D

I have never seen a [SA] Finnish stamped SKS.. Especially one that is [SA] stamped like Mosins, SVTs and other small arms, and then would have been recaptured to be imported here from Russia. As far as I know, Russo-Finland conflicts ended with the Continuation War in '44, 8 years before that rifle was made.

Would definitely need a good clear photo to ID the mark if at all possible.

I'm trying real hard to see that, it's not even a good finger pic. Like GM said, if there is one it's put there in the last few yrs, by Bubba. He does that when he can. :2cents: :2cents:

My camera dowsnt like to focus with close things lol. I know its a horrible pic. That option of bubba putting it there ran through my mind. But it looks identical to my buddies real finn capture m91. Unless bubba is just that good lol. Idk still interesting to me :p

I can't see it. A clear well lit shot would really help if at all possible

I did speak with a collector friend of mine to get his thoughts, he has collected numerous Russian and other SKS inspection stamps/serials etc., and he has never seen a Finnish [SA] stamped Russian SKS. I also downloaded and sent him the photo you posted, he came to the same conclusion, need a better shot, he couldn't make it out either.

I personally, can think of no reason for an SKS to be drug in to Finland, get torn down and get [SA] stamped and then somehow get drug back to Russia, Russia then refurbs this same rifle along the line, then in turn it gets imported. Also, most Finnish weapons, the [SA] stamp is above the wood line on the barrel shank or lug, in plain sight, why would Finland hide this one mark on this one rifle.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds like an interesting mark, my curiosity is peaked..

Did they have canned Russian ammo fo sale when you got yours? The guy I got mine from has a can and seys it's Russian. The price is right.
