Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Everybody loves a carbine, that goes double for anyone who has had to hump a heavy weapon around for any length of time. Joke there is the M44 " carbine" is as heavy as the 91/30 rifle due to the thicker barrel and the bayonet mount. The M38 and M91/59 sold out first , the M44 shortly after, any Mauser carbine is snatched in seconds, even small ring stuff like the Argentine carbines that use less common ammo. The M1 carbine is so popular that the started reproducing it in the early 50's and never stopped. The Soviets made more carbines than anybody else except for us with the M1 carbine.

As the bore solvents vapors slowly poison you... We had a thread about that a long time back. The ingredients some of them use I can't even pronounce let along spell.

That is why I mostly use slip2000 these days. I've had Hoppes on my skin too many times than I care to think about. Slip2000 is non toxic, not oil based.
Ok here's the second one as it came, quite a bit of rust, stock not as good as the first but has a few different things....sling slots have rings and this has a odd date, 1954.8, but it should turn out just fine after some TLC.

I'm definitely keeping it as in condition, just trying to get it where when I pick it up my hands don't come away filthy.
I'm looking forward to shooting it, but that will be aways off. Got to get my work bench cleared off of projects that have been sitting there for too long
