An ag42 is a ljungman. It is swedish, and shoots 6.5x55. They are quite nice. Your pics and link aren't working though. At least not for me.

Just reading about this thing. Quite the shooter apparently. I was looking at a 303 and mentioned my interest in Mosins. The guy thought this was a Mosin so long story short, I bought both guns. Anyone want a Sporterized 303?

I'll sell the Enfield for best offer plus shipping if you are from Canada. I'm not interested in the 303 as it is Sporterized.

Sweet Ljungman. They are like the Egyptian Hakim rifles. Pretty much the same design, but the Hakims were in 8mm.

You can send it to me labeled as "musical instrument." I am sure our two governments wouldn't mind just this once.

Hahaha got to flip this one quick. The wife's already mad about the SVT-40 and it is still in Shipping. I need to keep this purchase on the DL until the guy shows up at my door next week. Hopefully there's a ready market for the 303. It is nice in the pictures.
All this deal is done online so I hope everything is straight up. At least the guy works at the same site as me so I can go throw rocks at his truck if he screws me.

The Ljungman was developed in Sweden during the war but never put to any use other than target shooting. After the war Sweden sent the tooling to Egypt with technicians to set up a factory for Nasser's government, they modified the rifle into first the Hakim in 8mm and later the Rasheed in 7.62x39. The AG42B had some early corrosion problems with it's gas system, but the B modifications ironed that out for the most part. I find mine to be an accurate rifle, so is the Hakim for that matter, the Rasheed is another story. Mine is prone to breakage and has been retired from the range permanently.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yeah it looks like it would hurt!
As for ammo, what do i need to feed it? Is it true that the guns are very ammo sensitive? 6.5x55 boat tail but how many grains?

If it's like a Hakim, it would do more that hurt. You would be 9 fingered . :beek: Be safe.

+1. I would try to find surplus to shoot in it, but the PRVI should be a good substitute. Here is a pretty good article on 6.5x55 http://www.shootingtimes.com/ammo/hunti ... sh-mauser/

Ljungman is a great rifle. I made mistake of selling my first one, but got lucky a couple months later and bought a nIcer one from Dennis Kroh of Empire Arms for less than I sold mine for. Hakim I like too, but Hakim thumb can make Garand Thumb look like a paper cut.

Stopped at the range when we got back home and tested out the new acquisitions.
The AG42B runs awesome with 156 grain S&B ammo. The only issue is finding the brass in the snow - she throws it 20 feet at 2 o'clock!
Accuracy at about 75 yards seems to be very good considering this is the first time I fired her using only a sandbag under the forestock. Aimed for the center of the target but I was a wee bit high. Vertical movement is me and my old eyes...
