Haha well I might end up doing it, just depends on alot of variables. Plus, with wife and I trying to start the family soon, me having C&R wouldn't be good for my health if wife finds out I'm buying guns instead of saving for college fund/diapers

I am taking a chance myself, called the gentleman and he's gonna hold one till money order gets there Monday or Tuesday, just got one just before Christmas for $165.00 from another dealer but I can't pass up $99 shipped to see what I'll get, also the pics look like something that'll clean up ok for that price!

Do what I can, when I can
Hopefully some are left. Was hoping this thread would spark interest in them, but want at least another one for myself

FFL xfers in Fl $40 to $50, but one dealer says they are considering going to a percentage of weapon cost because of the bigger places like Bud's and such that take business from local dealers.
Re: Ordered a Omega T53 for $99 shipped
OP, thank you for "sharing the wealth."
The C&R has saved me thousands of dollars (no exaggeration) and an incalculable amount of time screwing around with LGS transfers. In particular, it means that I don't have to stand there like a suspect in a lineup while my "background," is checked for the umpteenth time while jihadists, documented crazies, and convicted criminals operate in a "cash and carry," environment.
And while I try to be discrete, there is a perceptible (if unfortunate) difference between saying, "I'm a collector," and "I have a federal firearms license," to generally ignorant John Qs.
All this being said, you're at a different place in time (vis a vis collecting) and your personal life than I am. I can afford being enabled by my C&R, being older, established, and having rebuilt my finances after they were destroyed in mid-life by the Dream Crusher (a/k/a the ex). I wish you well!

Re: Ordered a Omega T53 for $99 shipped
Thanks for all the replies and wealth of knowledge, I'm definitely going to get my c&r, just have to find time to do it between work and life. Figure will be good for when I'm browsing GunBroker.
In meantime, update on the T53
The barrel continues to clean up nicely, Everytime I think I have it clean more gunk comes out. Have got rifling, though thin, to start showing at the end of the barrel so I think I'll have a nice shooter.
The stock is cleaning up nicely, just been using furniture cleaner I had at the house. It took definitely cleaned the top layer of gunk off. I don't want to deep clean it cause I honestly enjoy the look. Does look like something was spilt on it at one time that stripped the original finish off and that the top layer of dirt covered up
Hopefully I can reassemble soon and get some finished pictures up of it all cleaned up

Also go the bayonet cleaned up and exterior of the barrel cleaned up. Only light surface rust by the receiver, but cleaned off easily without too much effort. Did put some grease on the screw for the bayonet cause screw threads had some rust in them from where the screw was out for who knows how long. Cleaned out the threads and grease was just to ease screw in
The bayonet does have a chip at the end, but cleaned up nicely. Overall the rifle has a good patina too it, not too rough but good honest wear
Would post pictures but thanks to snow/sleet I'm stuck at work until tomorrow

The bayo screws were generally peened a bit to keep them from loosening so they can be a bit touchy getting started back in a lot of times.

Just be advised with the chinese mausers they more than likely have no bore, and I don't mean a bad bore, I mean NO RIFLING, it is gone! Also, the T53 pics make some of the Chinese mausers look nice. If you want a shooter, chinese mausers are a far stretch. Lets just put it this way in the several hundred of Kevin Carney's that Zeebill and I have sorted, I have found maybe a handful with a bore.
RIP Kevin Carney. Your always in our hearts.

So make up some shot cartridges and go hunt snakes. I hear Chuck pays a $5 bounty for each dead snake, just leave the cool ones alone.

I emailed him about them as I am interested too and he said "not matching, dark bore and may have some stock repair." I don't know if by dark bore he means trashed or usable or what.joe7170 wrote:Witchdoctor wrote:Right...I was gonna get two but ill start with one since I've never dealt with this company yet, those Chinese mausers have my curiosity going though ?

I thought about getting one just as a display piece but for $50 bucks less, I'll keep buying the T53s and running the gamble

Fooled with Omegas 30 years ago, I didn't have to pay for either one back then and I am a big believer in tradition....so who's giving me one ?
