Re: Ordered a Omega T53 for $99 shipped
I'm definitely enjoying this T53, planning on getting another and hoping that it has rack numbers on it as well. It's very relaxing to get to slowly clean all the years off gunk/grime from the rifle

Does anyone know where I could find a correct Chinese sling? Have heard they vary in condition, but I would love to get one just to have

I bought one in 1994, it's still here someplace, and probably still in whatever bag it came in. Chances of my finding it before you are ready for the Old Folks home? about 20%

I do not own a Type 53 (yet) but have handled several and the stock on yours
is much better than average. I do not like ordering and doing the hassle of a
a transfer but these are tempting but still a crap shoot.

Unfortunately not, he's a fellow gun nut just likes the newer stuff. Though he did like the Type 53 when he was looking it over.Junk Yard Dog wrote:$5? Does he sell guns at 1972 prices also?
He does it cheap for fellow county employees since we all help each other out with whatever we need. Plus, being county employees we aren't flush with cash

This is the lower Hudson Valley area of New York, one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Everything here costs more, and FFL's are thin on the ground, that's why back when I was heavily collecting I got my own C&R FFL.

That's one thing I keep debating about getting, but being that surplus has dried up it's just easier to have my buddy order it for me than getting the license myself

Your in NY, that's the inconvenience for them having to put up with the retarded laws. Most states don't actively try to put the FFL's out of business. Gotta be SAFE don't your know
I can get transfers on non c&R for $20 if I need it, but I have a C&R, and most of my stuff is C&R

If you don't count California, or New Jersey.
A 03ffl is $30 a year. One transfer of a C&R and it's paid for....ONE.
Not to mention, it is delivered to YOUR front door, not the 01FFL's door. Did I mention, you don't have to wait for it (in some states with a waiting period). And I can go to my local gun store in California and take it home that day (no waiting like the rest of the free world) if I show my 03ffl.
I have a lot of reasons to have a 03FFL in CA. Other states maybe not so much, but at $30 a year...come on. One transfer and it paid for anywhere in the USA.
IF you are only going to buy a few C&R's over the next few years, I wouldn't bother with it. I bought my entire collection (well most of it) with a 03FFL in CA. I hardly yse it now, and will probably let it go shortly as I don't buy like I used to. Once I do let it go, I burn the book and no one knows what I have and never will.
