A little backstory. The NY SAFE Act makes this rifle illegal out of the box because of the thumbhole stock. I got around this asinine law by ordering a spare stock set, filling in the thumbhole with a scrap of wood nailed and glued into place, then coated both sides with JB Weld, and finally covered the abomination with some scraps of leather.
Today I received a worthy addition in the mail. All steel mags to replace the stock 5 round polymer mags, and a whole lot better than the sometimes unreliable aftermarket polymer mags.

Where are the Mags made? Does 922r apply when replacing just mags? I can't believe even thumbholes aren't allowed there. NY is worst than NJ except you can get carry permits outside the 5 Boroughs
They are 100% U.S. made by an outfit in Florida, so 922r will not be an issue. These are 10 rounders as NY does not allow anything bigger, but 15 rounders are in the works, and should be out shortly.

My buddy has one of those. It is the sweetest shooting 7.62x54 I have ever experienced. Nice rifle. Sorry you have to gussy it up, Here in the hinterlands, I would be temped to outfit with AK furniture.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
When I first saw the picture it scared the hell out of me. I'm glad you made these changes as I am not scared anymore. It was really dangerous in the original form.........NOT!!!!
Things really change. I grew up in Da Bronx. When I was in High School almost all of them had Rifle teams. It was not uncommon to see high school kids on public transportation with their rifles. Used to work on them in shop class. For those of you who don't know what shop class was there were wood shop, metal shop, automotive shop, etc that you could take. They were offered in every high school in NY.

In the Tri State area I think only in PA you will find rifle teams today. It's amazing how things have changed. NYC passed all those gun laws and it hasn't done a dang thing for gun crime.

Compare that to the SGM 10 round polymer (plastic) mag at $50 that is hit or miss with reliability, and it's worth it. According to csspecs, additional production runs of these mags should be a little cheaper, as the first two batches included a lot of R&D costs to get it right.
