Ruger single six

Post by Sonny »

The husband of one of my wifes coworker hurt his back last year and he is living just on medical benefits. So I gave him $350 for this old Ruger single six.Yes I know I paid to much for it but I don't mind helping someone out when they are on hard times.
Anyway this is a fun little gun :D I went to Rugers website to try and date it but can't seem to find this serial number on their site.I was told that it's about 50 years old.Still a good shooter tho,put about 100 rounds down range and it went bang everytime.

I'm happy with it and here's a few cell phone pics.

The patina on that thing makes it look like a 120 year old Colt that was in John Wayne's holster for every one of his movies. Did your friend carry this to get it looking like that or was it done by Ruger or someone else to mimic the look of the old cowboy shooters? Great looking piece, my Blackhawk should look like that in another 30 years. :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

It was his dads gun and he packed it when hunting big game just in case he seen a grouse or a rabbit. :)

I just had it out again and for being really old it shoots great.

These are nice revolvers. I got mine about 20 years ago for $100. I wouldn't sell it now for three times that amount.

50 years old is really old? :) On a board were people routinely shoot rifles 100+ years old? 50 years is just starting to get broke in.

I have one of those too. 1970. They either came with or without a 22 mag replacement cylinder. It was called a 22 convertible.

It looks like it hasn't been through the "recall" ? So keep a empty cylinder under the hammer when carrying it. If you strike the hammer (like it falls out of the holster), it can go bang. If it has had the recall, then it's fine. If you want, Ruger will fix it for you, but it will be worth less! Go figure.

Very nice looking pistol!!! Tons of fun.

Email or call Ruger with the gun type and serial number and they'll date it for you.

Ruger single six

Is that one right there? I'll have to dig it out of the safe. It was an heirloom and I was told the magnum wheel was purchased separately.

Email Ruger with the serial number and type and they'll give you an exact date if you really want it.
