How many Mosins are still in Russia?

Post by 45223 »

I know they got rid of a lot but any idea of how many are still there? Millions? Tens of millions?

Only Vladimir Putin, President of Russia knows and he isn't saying.

It looks like there are tons in N. Korea. The goosestepping army on the news tonight looked to me like they were carrying 91/30s. I could be wrong, it was a quick camera shot.

Plenty. Likely even more in Ukraine.

Has Lithuanian Surplus ever been imported en masse? I would think there would be interesting Mosins and Mausers in Lithuania, because if I'm not mistaken they had a Civil Guard similar to Finland.

I doubt Miller's count. If there were six, then they must all be '43 Izhevsk, non-matching, refurbs, with bad bores and broken stocks, because if they were special, Miller would have figured out how to get his greasy hands on them. The old boy has Mosin Mojo.

Yep Bill, in a few short months, we may be looking back thinking what a "good ole boy" the former president was. :)

I have a feeling I know how this election came to pass: The Illuminati, in some penthouse, sitting back smoking cigars and drinking brandy decided to play a huge joke on the electorate. In the wee hours of the morning, after emptying several bottles one of them said, "Just for kicks and giggles, lets run the biggest asshole in the country against the biggest liar." After rolling on the floors, laughing, the motion passed.

Guess who the joke is on.

One of these days, Putin will step on his own crank and disappear into the fog and the night. In Russia, as in the US, the real decisions are made by the business interest, who control the political interests. As soon as Putin cuts into the bottom line of the rich and powerful, he will be gone. It is the way the Russians work. It will be a toss-up as to whether he is replaced by someone more like Brezhnev or more like Kim. We have had a roller coaster ride since WWII with relations with the Russians. One day it will return to a more normal relationship and the businessmen and women will be looking for more obsolete military junk to sell to us. It is only a matter of time; how much time is the unknown.

On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

Presumably there are many to come, if relations between Russia and the west normalize. The Molot guns were coming from somewhere before they dried up, which seems to have co-incided with the invasion of Crimea.

The Molot company still sells to the rest of the world, just not here since the current unpleasantness started.

Actually that won't happen to Putin. He is not only the richest man in Russia he is the richest man in the world. Estimated net worth is $200B or about the same as Ortega, Slim, and Gates combined.
