my m44

Post by thunder1 »

Finally got my laminate m44(total mismatch-but pretty) to shoot and function good. Took me nearly three years to do. replaced both ejector parts, worked with the front sight for a while til i figured out that it had the standard m44 sight on it when it really needed the "early" m44 sight on it. once that arrived i had to file it down so that i wasn't shooting low. Also had to replace the rear sight spring, now it shoots as good as my beat up 1942 91/30. funny how the beat up gun shot great and the pretty m44 wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn. And i enjoyed every step of the journey

Most if not all my M-44's shoot a decent group with the bayonet fixed. Without, looks like a buckshot load :2cents: :2cents:

Ugly rifles shoot? Yep, I've got 5 1944 M-44's as pristine as yours, real good bores too, but the '46 non refurb with many little butterfly repairs, dark oily, beater, maybe VC, it outshoots them all. The proof when the smoke clears is on the paper. :bwink:
