Open season

Post by MeatMarket »

Well not really, not for two more weeks at least. Although I did kill 5 monsters today, 5 monster arachnids.

Yesterday I went to service my trail cam out in the woods in my favorite hunting spot and was surprised to find my way blocked by an enormous web with a very large exotic looking spider. We stared at each other a bit then I decided to go around a different way only to find my way blocked again by the same kind of spider and web. I found five total. Almost every avenue of approach to where I wanted to go was blocked by these spiders.

These weren't those little horned spiders you find making webs everywhere. These were arachnus gargantua (actually Argiope Trifasciata female variety).Terrifying creatures that can wrap around your head and eat your soul through every orifice of your face. I could not allow them to remain so I went back out there earlier today with my 12ga. Winchester Model 12 and erased their existence at point blank range. Excessive force you say? I think not. I only hope their kin do not seek retribution.

Already their army has mobilized and the ninja spider rapid response teams are closing in on your home as I type. Problem is you will still be alive and immobilized when they begin to feed....

Where do you guys live? Australia? I won't be visiting anytime soon lol.

The only truly great thing about Central NJ, other than the Jersey Shore, is we have zero deadly creatures. The black widow which is rarely ever seen maybe the most dangerous. Come to think of it we don't have deadly natural disasters either.

Brown recluse, black widow, water moccasin, rattlesnake, rarely a coral snake(never seen one live), cotton mouth, coyote, bobcat, FL panther, wild hogs(some have reached 300 lbs+). I'm sure I'm leaving something out. Über rare are the black panther(I've seen two), and red wolf(saw a dead one tossed off a bridge when I was a kid and but it was no bigger than a German Shepard). My brother and me spotted the wolf while out riding our bikes. Told our dad to come look and he drove us over, stopped, got out, looked down, got back in, and drove off real fast. He said don't go back down that road for a few weeks and let nature handle it.

Hornets, yellow jackets (ground and hanging nest varieties), wasps, fire ants(at least 6 varieties), velvet ants(locally called cow ants and you almost can't kill them. Their head must be cut off or use a hammer while they're on a concrete slab), alligator(locally they're small...usually), large snapping turtles with heads the size of coffee cans...then there's the marine animals down on the coast.

I guess it's more of a pine tree jungle after all when they're listed.

Fuck all that.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There were 40 deaths from Sandy in NJ most over the age of 65 and Sandy was a once in a lifetime event.

Brake Weight is that your buffet spread? It sounds tasty. We have all you have minus the Big cats and wolves here in SC. Just the other day I was loading some sacks of concrete mix into my truck from a covered pallet in my yard. When I picked up the last bag from the bottom of the stack I encountered a snake underneath it. He took off so fast I only got a glimpse and couldn't identify it, but it was tannish in color. It had been in reach of my hands and feet the whole time.

You have bears the size of a fuckin Buick up there in Canada Sonny, and your worried about a spider???? :facepalm1:

Hurricane Sandy was a bit more to deal with here in NY, death, massive flooding, thousands of trees down, property damage in the billions, some areas lost power for weeks, we even had a small riot at the fire house when the local power company failed to produce promised dry ice. I had trees down, power out for a day, and spotty for several more, one storage shed collapsed, another lost it's roof, and a storage trailer sprung leaks everywhere. This cost me hundreds of books, damaged items to numerous to count.

Yep banana spiders for sure. Where I used to squirrel hunt in the middle part of LA it was full of them. Took my gf hunting with me once and she never went back again because of the banana spiders. Heck they never bothered me. I would just find a small branch about 3 feet long and when I came up on a web just make a couple of circles through it with the branch and it's gone. Killed more cotton mouths than carter's had little pills and a few copper heads too. Thing that scared me the most was when two bull gators got to bellowing at each other while I was in my waders duck hunting. That was always a butt pucker time.
