SOG 7.62x25
Hello all just tried out my new M57 Zastave from SOG I got, pistol seems to be great however didn't get to fire it much...the ammo I also got from there is defective and my FFL will be contacting them, it's stamped 1952/10/3/star...almost every round of the 18 I fired before noticing the problem and stopping split the casing near the neck, just wanna pass this along so someone doesn't get hurt !

I did as well but supposedly for a 1953 version wrapped in pink paper.

If I recall that stuff could be suspect.

I had the same experience with the Bulgarian 1950's surplus. I have switched to Sellier and Bellot commercial ammo and have had no problems in the CZ-52 or TT33.

This problem was brought up a couple years ago about this Bulgarian ammo splitting cases. The Bulgarian was a hotter round than the Romanian at the time. I don't recall it causing any problems other than you could not re-use the cases. You take your chances with surplus, it will shoot well in some pistols and not others.

Think I'll settle for a few less FPS and just order some new production stuff.

My FFL dealer is gonna take it back and give me some other ammo in its place...I requested Mosin ammo and he's happy to do it, great guy to deal with.

I bought that about 6 years ago? It was available for a short time & the price was right so I ordered a full tin. should keep me for years to come. I think it was through AIM.spongemonkey wrote:Where did you find the Romanian? I may want to try and get me some!Rongo wrote:I bought a crate of the Romanian & haven't had an issue. The Romanian stuff is not something you will find from commercial sellers. I bought 2000 rounds about 3 or 4 years ago from a private seller on Armslist locally. I offered to the members here for thirteen cents a round. One member bought 100 rounds and I was forced to keep what I haven't shot. None is for sale now.

Re: SOG 7.62x25
I assume this is burden primed stuff and not exactly reloadable, the brass is probably too hard causing the case to rupture at the shoulder when it expands in the chamber. If it's safe in the gun and your not looking to reload it I'd think it's still safe to shoot. I had some new Starline brass do this and they replaced it but I was reloading. Am I missing something here?

I also bought crate of Romanian from Aim a number of years ago, great stuff. Yugo is also good but primers are harder, may need to strike twice on occasion. See it, buy it.
