CMP question?

Post by B24 »

Do you have to meet the same criteria to order ammo/parts & accessories as you do to order a rifle.

I believe so, though I don't think you need the club membership too, not sure though.

You have to meet all the criteria, even being a member of an affiliated club.

I'm not sure about the ammo and accessories. Might be a good idea to give them a call. I know when I ordered my Garand, I also ordered ammo. The ammo came quickly but waited about 2 months for the rifle.

Yes, you have to meet their qualifications to order from them. I have to send them my 2016 range membership before I can order ammo since they check every year to make sure your qualifications are current.

Yes you need a club membership. I just ordered a can of 30.06 so I had to get current. I joined the online M1 Collectors Club for $14 and used my CHL. I think I was able to use my C&R plus club membership for my Garand.

It's so easy now...
I was a USMCR 0311/2311 vet, but back in the DCM days had to qualify in a DCM match to purchase a M-1, which required the better part of a day plus $$$, and 9 Mos. back then to get a rifle from the Army who operated the DCM.
I carried the M-1, but qualified w/ the M-14 (only surpassed by the 1903A1 because of bolt action accuracy).
The CMP is like Star Wars...so efficient in processing orders.
Yeah, well now I just produce my DD214, CWP, C&R, and Life Membership in a CMP affiliated club Gun Owners of South Carolina and it's simple.

IIRC being retired military my DD-214, and retired ID card, takes care of the requirements for me through CMP.

"Membership in these organizations satisfies our requirement for purchase. These special affiliates include: Congressionally chartered veterans' organizations such as the VFW, AL, DAV, MCL, etc. U.S. Military services (active or reserves), National Guard, to include retirees...."

See here for the rules, but in a nutshell "Note: Club membership IS required for purchase of rifles, parts, and ammunition."

Thanks for all the replies, the reason I asked is I recently traded for a Garand and need to purchase some Greek
surplus while they still have it.
