bcd4 LSR

Post by desdem12 »

I received a donor stock today so technicaly I can place this rifle here where maybe some people will see it. I bought the rifle as a sporter (a price that just could not be turned down), but it is the genuine deal as the LSRs cant be faked. (they can but very noticeable). The other parts I need are way high priced but I am still holding out hope. :Germany: Donor stock is a Yugo marked (original german I think). Bolt body is a match and the rear sight also. I have posted one foto of the condition in which the rifle was found and bought

Being as this is a real sniper I hope you will forgive the reproduction mount. I have yet to see a real one for sale and I doubt I could afford it at this point  I got one that was made for the flat receiver and it seems to be nice quality. Will find out. It came without screws so I had to get them from accumounts. They fit nicely. I had to do a bit of work on the mount as it didn't line up to the holes I had but I expected that and the work was minimal. cut job looks a tad off but it is mostly the angle of the shots.

That one is the zf41, the long eye relief scope for the side of the rear sight. I need one like this

That is pretty pricey, but I don't know if I wouldn't save my lunch money for a while and get one. That would be sweet. I assume that originals are unobtainium.

As far as correct scopes... there is a gray area. OF COURSE lol. You can get a real one and not to pricey. Some are more pricey for sure. The original correct scope you would need, would be a DOW scope. Don't see many of them and those are way up there. But a hensoldt wetzlar dialytan would be technicaly correct or even an ajack. Ajack is pricey mostly but a dialytan might slip through. Or I could maybe find a nice diatal that would also be period ok. I am holding out hope for a dialytan but might go for something close till I can sell the house for the dow :beek:  I found a real deal sniper so am thinking I might be hit in the head with a scope and mount. something approximately like this is technicaly correct

Considering these are as rare as hens teeth a rescue an a legitimate beauty as this is the only option to go... Even if you have to add repro parts. The real stuff just ain't out there; And if it is who can afford it.

Great resurrection project! :vcool: :vcool:

Thanks Guys. Yes this is kind of an interesting path I never thought I would go on. It is sort of a money pit but not to bad yet. Just slow. I have a temp older scope on it that was 30 shmos while I look for a more fitting one. It will be going out to the range here soon I hope. At least for some play plinking.

While most german snipers were made from regular rifles picked from production, The long side rail sniper rifle was made from the get go as a sniper model. The receiver was special made. Now not all rifles were fitted with scopes I understand but if it was tapped and had pin holes then it was outfitted and used ass a sniper. The good thing is these are impossible to fake so it is a bonified german sniper and definitely not a fake or made up sniper. The bad part is there are less parts and they are way high priced. Scopes bring as much as a regular rifle and the mounts are impossible to find. Not at all like the plentiful Russian PU.
