My Balkan Mutt

Post by Miller Tyme »

Everybody loves a Mutt, pure breads are nice, but there is something about a mutt you just have to like, and this 1909 Sestroryetsk M91 is no exception.
It shows signs of its Balkan Heritage, with the ground Imperial Crests, and is a real mix master , the stock is off a 1915 Izhevsk and the barreled action contains parts from Sestroryetsk, Chatellerault, Izhevsk, and Tula (both pre and post 1928). As an added bonus the rifle also came with a Tula bayonet and the total package was priced less than the cost of a typical refurb'ed 91/30.

All that pedigree added up to a nice mutt! If you're looking to check off a variants for your collection that one fits the bill. Nice!

Who can argue with that. :vcool:

In my opinion; anything not a 91/30 refurb in it's general price range is a good deal.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I would rather think of it as a grizzled old veteran; no face-lift, no Botox, all scars and belly-fat intact. It could be a real storyteller.

I like it!

I like it too, and it was a real bonus with the bayonet.

Thanks everyone, I have to give the credit for this one to a fellow FB Mosin collector that tipped me off on the auction, hard to pass on a deal like this.
