My gf: "Why did you buy another gun?"

"Collectors Forum" - All Mosin Nagant are discussed here. Also the Russian and "Finnish capture" SVT38 and SVT40. This is an excellent place for new Mosin owners to ask questions. We have some of the best experts here looking forward to your questions. If you post a Mosin sniper rifle here, we may or may not move it to the sniper forum.

Preservation forum, please no altered military surplus rifles or discussions on altering in this forum. No sportsters. Please read the rules at the top of each forum

My gf: "Why did you buy another gun?"

Post by geosh »

"Because I'm a gun collector"
her: "That's a good reason"

When WeldonHunter told me about these forums, I thought there would be nobody here. Apparently I was way wrong.
I convinced a good friend of mine to finally buy his first gun (a Mosin Nagant) because of the cheap price and the history behind it. We both ordered from Bud's and they haven't been shipped yet. I mean, a hundred bucks for a piece of history!?

Oddly enough, they haven't shipped yet. I've ordered a few times from Bud and those orders have always been shipped they day of or the day after the order. Not this time... maybe you guys know why?
BTW love the format, you guys seem like friends, and put me down for "already voted for Ron Paul once before" :D

Welcome Aboard! And we look forward to your new Mosins arriving as well! Not sure why the delay, as I have never delt with Bud's, but I have heard of them. In fact another new member here just posted a great 1920's era Tula he got from them. A rarer find then a '30's or '40's era Tula. Many of us also like in depth range report info, as we're very interactive with our hobby!

Welcome to the forum geosh, and no, I didn't edit your post, but I suspect there must have been something non PG in there? Being non PG myself almost all of the time I understand how things can slip in  don't sweat it, and if you are worried about your rifles not shipping on time call the company. Could be anything, maybe they lost your FFL. or they just take longer to ship firearms because of the extra paperwork. Some outfits ship faster than others, Aim always had my rifles shipping the same day I ordered them, some of the one man shows ( small gunshops selling on GB) took several days, even a week. I once had an individual take over a month to ship me a rifle, but I knew him, and how slow he worked.

Even though you are connected to that Weldon character we will let you join.
Just kidding of course. If you have trouble sneaking rifles past GF these guys will have your back for you and hold on to those future rifle purchases for you. :toast:

Hey Geosh, I see you decided to join. Welcome. There's lots of people here that have some serious collections and some serious knowledge to go along with them. The reason your guns haven't shipped might be they're backlogged on orders. There's so many people buying these things right now a lot of vendors are either on a backorder status or are simply playing catch up. I'll tell you this, if you get one like this http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... f=5&t=2635 it'll be worth the wait.

I just saw the *Edit* and don't know what was there but as a reminder Geosh there's member's kids as well as some ladies reading this so we try to keep that in mind. Sure we might use a cuss word from time to time but we try to keep it PG. Oh and as far as FAQs or rules. This is the most important here "This is a preservation forum and we do not advocate altering any military surplus rifle" This is the heart of this forum and is not negotiable. You will have your pee pee smacked on that one. The goal of this forum is to futher collecting and preserving these firearms. That seems to be your path anyway so carry on and enjoy.

I'll just "rephrase" what I said that got edited: hobbies are way more fun when they are interactive!

I would never dream of modifying my Mosin. Also, it shipped this morning. I'm excited!

Wasn't too bad... But we are PG, or try our best to be.

I saw it this morning and thought I'd wait to see what happened. :D

Welcome to the forum. I've actually got the wife interested in the history a bit. Show her pics of people's collections that have more than you do. And tell her you could be looking at something she wouldn't like or meeting your next GF online, but no it's all about gun porn. Oh and don't forget the I bought it for X but it's worth X+20%.

geosh, welcome to the boards!!

As far as buying them, for me . . it's no problem. Now, as far as getting rid of them (not that I would) . . well, that's totally different.

Me: "no worries there"

Best reply to the GF's question I've heard was, "I just didn't have one with this particular serial number on it."
